It's not that I can't get a box, I just hadn't considered it. I'm new to this. I just tented the door to the tiny closet they're in, lysoled the air and went in naked.

I don't have sab nor have I ever used one. I do what the OP does. Works for me and I've been doing this for years this way. In fact, I sit down and take my time. Still air is still air no matter where you are at. Those pics look great! Welcome to the hobby!

Thanks. Those fruits look awesome, while we're trading compliments. Yeah, I'm not in a position to get real serious with these bad boys right now so I'm just tinkering around. But I'm also paying attention to all the great info here and when I get to where I can set up a more or less laboratory, well, that'll be something else.

Okay...I'm 10 days into my first grow and I want some opinions, please. 5 days ago I posted a pic of the growth I've got so far. The same jar also has another speck at the bottom, see pics. That's 1 out of 10 jars. The rest have moisture, and what a pears to be some mycelium but could be wet brf. There's no stink, so...why aren't all the jars growing? My head says wait and see, but my gut says chuck em and start over. Your thoughts?

It can take up to a month or longer for brf cakes to colonize..not bad for 10 days..

Ok, so here's my one jar at 21 days. I didn't take pics of the others but I do see the tiniest tufts of growth, kinda like the mycelium is in the middle. So why such a huge difference between the one and the others? Dunno. Still wanna start over. What a waste of time.

Micropore tape. My only question really is why would 1 jar take off and not the others. They were all done the same way, so why the growth difference? Everything else is golden.

lots of reasons, but you did multispore right? sometimes you just get a fast colonizer spore out of the potential thousands, mushrooms will rarely be consistent with each other even with isolated strains

Those cakes with a little growth look like Moisture but that is caused by bacteria. They will grow, but take more than a month. Just start some more. And don't open those near your other, or it will kill out new flushes. I take cakes like that and put them in houseplants and forget abt them. Works pretty well.

I have inoculate 10 jars and noticed by the 4th or 5th that my syringe looks void of anymore spores. Make sure and shake it thoroughly. I think sometimes the spores float down to the bottom and most get injected into the first few cakes, just my opinion though.
As been said before many times, patience is the key in this here hobby. If you check every day multiple times it can get frustrating not seeing growth all the time.

I was pretty meticulous with the shaking of the syringe to disperse the spores and as sterile as I could be given my circumstances. It hasn't quite been a month yet, so I'll wait...and start new jars. Think I'll shake these. It's funny nhobidy mentioned the houseplants, I just said something very similar to a friend yesterday.
