It would be cool to find them. A few months ago when I first joined the forum... my friend, very stupid he was, found these near a creek in Acworth and ate them.

He got a little sick, throw up here and there, but he said he was tripping. He went to the doctor to see if he was poisoned or something and the doctor told him he had large amounts of psilocybin and muscarine in his system.

What kind of tests did the doctor supposedly run to make those chemical level determinations?

Sounds like the doctor just approximated some mushroom-adjacent chemical guesses to me. If it was actually Inocybe the psilocybin level would likely not be what anyone would consider to be "a large amount".

Your friend is a fuckin dingus, next time you see him kick him in the balls, while he lays there in agony explain to him that he's a fool for eating shrooms he wasn't sure about, and also pursuing Inocybe for recreational purposes.
People always say stuff like "yeah I was tripping balls" even though they weren't, their fucking pride gets em every time.
If I were you I would stick to Gymnopilus, Panaeolus, and Psilocybe. Those three genera are fairly easy for beginners to identify, but always post your finds here, and your friends finds too.

Creekside sounds like a plausible enough habitat for Inocybe, hard to tell from those pics though

Seriously though, I have always found Inocybe in sandier soil.
Also, check the smell of them, many smell spermatic.

I'm not actively searching for inocybe and unfortunately my friend is in jail in Wisconsin now. But I will kick him in the balls when he gets back lol. Pans I haven't pursued yet. Gyms are like invisible to me. Can't find any sign of them and I think I'm getting the hang of weilii (won't really know until Fall)

Tell ya what, a nice rains going to come during May/June and you're going to have mushrooms coming out your ears.
I always found active Gymnopilus around the end of May, beginning of June, as well as lots of caerulescens and cinctulus.
Morels are fruiting in your area.

I think the only member here who ever found these and got 100 % confirmation was Sporulator.
That was either in Germany or Switzerland, if I'm not entirely mistaken.

He is correct that's about when I usually start to find them. Haven't found and Gyms yet myself though. As well as the others I think with the mild winter we had we could see them earlier.

Someone's going to read this and think morels are active. lol
"Man, I ate an ounce of morels and barely got above threshold."
