Evolution
    #2418119 - 03/11/04 06:06 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

As life and the entire (life of)universe evolves, do you think the universe could evolve to a point where it becomes a completely different thing to what it is now, unfathomoble to even itself in its present state? This would rule out the 'big crunch' theory as the life of the universe would be linear. And then once it has evolved to this new state it would most likely keep going, evolving into allsorts of shit, possibly into infinity.
What ever the case may be, Existence is fucked up :nut:

The universe wouldn't evolve, the organisms living in it would and their perception would change of the universe, rendering it differently.

Or something. I'm not really sure about this one because we didn't cover it in school.

How do we know the whole universe wouldn't evolve. Humans have been around for 10,000 or so years, compare that to 13 billion or so, we have no idea what the fuck could happen.

You are right.  We don't know what could happen.  I don't really want to venture a guess on this.

As of late, my thinking has been that I should read more philosophy and conceptualize things that will help me do better in life.  Otherwise, it really isn't helping me to ponder how I know what I know or what the universe may look like.

Maybe that's cause I don't  :spliff: as of these last few months.

Fair enough, the topic doesn't have an answer. It was just on my mind so I thought I'd post it and see what responses I got.

Hehe, nice thoughts.

I guess it is definitely possible. We as humans keep evolving, if a caveman stumbled into a city there isn't much he would recognize.... he'd barely even recognize us as of the same.

Give us a couple thousand of years and hell, we probably won't even be physical. Hell, we might only need eight years to see that happening.

Our understanding has been increasing exponentially from the beginning, ever since we first became aware and began to question.... for centuries we have been pushing the boundaries and limits further and further back, transcending them. More and more people are questioning reality itself while others fear the question and try to avoid its being asked....

Well, according to the pattern that we have been making, there is always resistance from those who don't want the boundaries to be questioned and the force the people seeking out the unknown always pushes through the resistance.

Reality is going to bust out of its seams soon, people. Let us sing the song of Momentum!
Peace. :mushroom2:
