Is it possible to double stack the quart jars? I have a Presto 23 qt that I can stand up 14 jars in. The lid will close without any resistance but are there any safety issues with the jars being within a 1/2 inch of the lid?

Only 10 quart jars fit. They're not quart jars if you can do 14

I have a presto 18 liter cooker. That makes 19 quarts. I assumed that i could only put 7 in, but when I crammed my jars in, it looks like I can get in 10. Am I overloading it? Or did I luck out with an odd shaped cooker and jars? also, just to clarify, the jars can touch the sides correct?

Indeed, but this is 18 liter/19 quart, I've not loaded it full yet as I haven't required the spawn, but I need it now. Screw it, gonna load it up, I need 20+ jars for tomorrow. Are the jars ok touching the side? I never loaded it so full.

Here's the model # on the box, and a pic of it on my stove. I agree, it seems to be a 23 quart, but with no pressure gauge. I picked it up on craigslist a few months back for cheap, still in the box. Either way, it was a success. I just got 10 jars done with it. Time for a brew, and a bowl :bigblunt:  :drinklager:

What's the purpose of covering the top of the jars with tin foil?
