there really is a shit load of quality and relevant info in this tek.
seems basic to some but the basic steps not being executed correctly causes the biggest headaches. holds true for most aspects of life too.

Wow bod i just saw this for the first time i had no idea about venting. Thank you for providing this ill now know how to use my pc properly. I wish i could do your quarter trick but i dont have a pressure gauge on any of my pcs. I suppose i could start i get it to where its barely rattling at 15psi then put em on but i dont wanna chance popping the plug. What do you think

without the gauge id be too freaked..
but chances are most gauges are not calibrated so maybe its a

What's the plug rated for?

Does it give you a false reading when adding weight to a pressure weight?
I'm asking because since using an all american 912 I've always had to keep the temperature on my stove between 5 and 4, a little bit a medium.
But since I added 2 quarters and 2 dimes, I can keep the temperature a little below for and it still about 15 psi.
I've also noticed it doesn't sound like as much steam is escaping
Is that a true reading?

turn your heat up?
less heat=less pressure. just because the rocker has extra weight doesnt mean you turn down the heat.. turn up the heat.

3qts seems like a lot of water, been pressure cooking for years and I've only ever used 1qt of water at most. Gonna give 3qts a try tomorrow

Hey bod thanks for making this video
I'll be pressure cooking tomorrow with my mirro 22qt
The only question that I didn't see answered is how long do you leave it on for ? On your video your oven timer only passed 20 minutes and you were already done
I don't have the top to read the psi so would I just leave it on for 90 minutes plus with 10 minutes venting?

The times are in the spawn teks and agar teks and the teks for things that get sterilized

My pressure cooker doesen't have a gauge that shows pressure, but it has 2 settings, it can let pressure escape maintaining 9 or 12 psi, is that enough to sterilize agar and grains?

I was just looking on ebay where I saw a Presto 23 quart for around 115€, including shipping and taxes and I live in Europe too.
And 115€ is quite cheap for a PC this size in Europe.
