Here's a link with pictures even. And a calculator

This isn't theory it's science. And validated by real world results. Like the temperature readings measured inside an autoclave with trapped air.

I don't care about your experiment.
Buy one of these

They go IN the cooker. They register the maximum temperature hit

Try it yourself.

Thanks for the TEK :thumbup:

I have a 22 qt Presto with a different type of jiggle weight than what is shown here.  This is my solution to reduce the noise for others with similar weights:

Hey Bod,
If I wanted to do filter patch bags in a PC would I...
1) place 3 layers of rings in the bottom then the trivet, so I'd have enough water (5qt?) for the 4 hr run;
2) place a couple of damp hand towels with spaces around the top of trivet, then folded unsealed bags on top of towels with more damp hand towels with spaces between bags, perimeter & top to keep them from touching the hot metal, each other & allow enough steam to circulate;
3) place a heavy plate or weight on top with space arround to keep them in place so bags don't fill with steam, melt or clog the PC & go boom;
4) run PC as per your tek, then let naturally release & cool overnight?
Does this sound right or if you have any alterations or suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I forgot to release the air bubbles from under the jars this time :/
I PC'd 8 rye grain jars at 15psi for 2 hours, and vented for 10 minutes before putting the pressure on. Will they be OK?
Thank you!

Hey thanks for the thread. I am trying to do my first grow with brf cakes.

I d like to ask you if I can substitute less psi with more time? I think I can run my pc at 13 psi.

And about the coin adding. Do you know if the ratio of weight  to psi is 1:1,meaning if for every 1g i add on top i get say 0.25 psi?
I am a bit paranoid about my pc going boom. In the manual it says it can go max 27 psi for safety

Also I kind of lost you at the part with the air bubbles. Are they supposed to be between the trivet and the pc bottom, or between the jars bottom and the trivet surface?

One last thing, when u say tilt the jars, do you mean lifting up the whole pc and tilting it so the water runs up to the sides? I would try to see the bubbles myself but i dont have the jars or a trivet yet and i am trying to plan ahead.

Thanks in advance

Finally traded in my 8 prestos for 4 75x. Pretty pumped. I plan on taking the liner out of it and have noticed a lot of controversy over leaving the tube in it or not. What’s really the deal. Not trying to fuck up a 4K investment.

4K ? Jesus.

The tube just helps get air out of the basket. If you don't use the basket all it is is extra restriction for venting. You can leave it on if you want. With the basket air tends to get trapped in the bottom. as the steam gets produced it pushes the air down in the basket since air is heavier. Without the basket there's so much turbulence and no where for air to hide besides in your jars so it works like any other pressure cooker and just vents normally

Put the bag of ready to sterilize oats in the pressure cooker then turn it on for 3+ hours.

I know that's probably not helpful but I don't really know where you're stuck

Just wanted to say thanks for this tek. I'm another noob and used this yesterday, the part about rasing the trivet was really helpful. Since my PC didn't come with one I used this

I think it's a cooking mold or whatever is called (English isn't my first language)....leaving the idea here in case it helps someone at the shroomery
