Giant honey-tek. 1

I've done some beer brewing and I've recently switched hobbies
So far it has been my experience that liquid myc cultures in honey water are the easiest way to produce anything p.cube related. I was considering attempting to make a 3-5 gallon honey-tek to see what sorta results I'd get from it. I have a large glass jug and my sterility techniques have been well-honed by brewing (1 bac or mould and you have to watch 6 gallons of sweet sweet beer go down the drain).
The jug has a small opening at the top that when i am brewing, i plug with an "airlock". Its a water-barrier that allows gasses out but not in.
I plan on using the honeytek to proportion, does anyone see a reason for this to fail?

What would you do with 3 gallons of mycelium?

I don't see why it would fail, but i don't see the necesity either... I mean you could make about 20 syringes from just a cup of water which would innoculate lets say at least 12 jars each 12x20 = 240 jars. So unless you are planning on making a couple thousand jars, I don't think it would really be practical... but i don't see why it wouldn't work...

He could take the mycelium water afterwards and do an extraction, though...

Ding ding ding! And jared takes home the jackpot.
Although 2000 jars or a colonized field would be nice, i'm really just trying to take the easy and fast way out. Also, at some point in the summer i might try to simply spread shrooms like the plague in a nearby ravine or forest.

As much as I'd love to supply my local liquor store with a funky new brew, I'm not too sure how well the authorities would take to my business venture. Anyway, if liquid myc can have you trippin, then who needs fruits!

It would probably be best to filter it. The problem with eating mycelium in any form, is you never know exactly what you're really consuming.
A cubensis fruitbody is easy to identify. Who knows what you're pulling out of a jar of stringy water.

i guess nobody has pointed out that LMCs have proven to be pathetically low in actives. have fun drinking 3 gallons of sickly sweet fungi-infested water just to catch a light head buzz. you'll get higher off the sugar.

Well, you COULD all keep bashing me, or you could go and read one of the extraction teks. Someone already said this.
So if I am going to do an extraction tek, then why would i bother with stupid little pint jars when I can have 5 gallons at a time?
I'd like to hear from people who actually KNOW what they are talking about on the topic of liquid myc cultures and p'bin extraction. I'm not here for opinions so keep them to yourselves.

when people try and trip on myc, its from a colonised pf jar, or if they dumb enough to waste it some grain, the myc in jars are alot more established and strong and stuff, the myc in water is just barely getting by. you would seriously have to ectract 75 gallons of colonzd honey water to get a mcg of plsilocybin.

It's not quite that bad. You might get one dose from a gallon

"might" and "could" are not really what I'm looking for here. I've read the teks just the same as you have, I'd like to hear from someone who has first hand knowledge of the process.
Why was this thread moved from advanced? I'm trying to make an improvement on a tek that I found in the Advanced FAQ's.

What everyone is trying to tell you is that you really are wasting your time. If you can make clean liquid innoculum then you are only a couple weeks away from WAY more psilocybin. The fruits are the dank stuff, mg, not the mycelium. THink of it this way. a gallon could be a dose or more(probably less), but the potential from that same galln is thousands of doses. It's just a matter of efficiency.

I will be attempting a one gallon batch of liquid culture soon.
My concerns are with breaking the mycelium up, but for your application, I would have no worries.
There will be a gradient of dissolved gasses throughout the jar, this may affect growth at different depths within the jar. Mixing will help distribute any gases. I would try one batch in your jar with pressure valve and another jar with a filter and see if you notice any differences.
Also, I was told by a fellow psychonaught that exposure of liquid cultures to light may increase their active levels. You could give that a shot too.
Not many people that I am aware of have experimented with large batches of liquid culture. I plan on attaching a spray nozzle to mine and going out to inoculate some outdoor rogue beds this Spring.
Good luck!

What about doing a grain --> gallon myc transfer? In a glovebox (or what have you), take a few kernels of well colonized popcorn, drop it into the sweet water, then incubate. Would this work well?

honest question...how would you sterilize a jug that big? do you plan on putting the water and karo in it, and then putting it into a huge pressure cooker? im lost.
