I've read over this guide 3 times now. I have spore syringes coming on Thursday and plan on following this guide as closely as I possibly can. Looking forward to jumping into the hobby.

a lot of the battle is properly sterlizing. everything else is pretty straight forward.

Just delivered today. Going out tomorrow to gather up everything else I need to get started. Super excited to get going. I had mushrooms for the first time in probably 18 years last weekend and had a blast. Looking forward to not having to find them when the mood strikes.

So I ordered 5 different strains:
Golden Teacher
B+
Cambodian
Blue Meanie
Koh Samui Super Strain
Any thoughts on which I should try first? Planning 10 cakes of the same strain to start off my new adventure.

thats a lot of cakes. they are all purddy much the same so do whatever.
only use a few drops of solution per jar

I see the four inoculation holes are left uncovered after inoculating.
Does the top layer of dry vermiculite act as a filter to prevent contamination?
With TEKs with all the Tyvec layers and pore tapes and SHIPs, just leaving them open feels sort of vulnerable. But it's for sure the easiest. Can anyone ease my worried mind [as the song says.]

You use verm -or- one of those other filters. Just a dry verm layer is enough. Multiple filters will restrict GE and work against you.

Hi guys,
Tried to search on this topic and I'm sure there are answers to this, but I didn't find a clear answer so I'm asking: Do I have to resterilize the jars after succesful mycelium growth or just clean them with washing up liquid and they're fine?
