now that ya mention it. i used a thicker than normal pseudo casing on my maz trays that did this shit.
later flushes were completely normal but i wasnt using a envy and/or ksss or anything cool ...just MS so who knows. but i did use almost an 1inch on that batch of trays. i had extra cvg so i used it
its the only time ive seen it and it didnt do it on other maz trays. just that batch.

Shiitake blob sometimes too. I've seen that a fair bit...

I have been having similar issues. At 1st I believed that I left the sub over saturated, but if you guys are having a similar issue I doubt that's it, as I'm sure you guys don't make the over hydrated mistake. My current tub is blobing, no casing. I had 4 pints nice spawn and said fuck it and used month old CVG that was still chilling in the cooler. I'm going with bacteria in my current one, but its still chugging along. NO mold from month old CVG though and I have opened that cooler a few times to take some out for cakes.

Liloldme claims his cultures needs high spawn ratio to perform as it does. If I remember correct.

To me it seems like if a culture is a slow digester and it's put into fruiting to soon it blobs up, like it's trying to digest and fruit at the same time
Or I just have no idea what I'm talking about

Hmm. So you're telling me I should let my (now done) ape cultures consolidate before I spawn them?

ape usually don't blob but they also usually take a long time to pin also
But I've been thinking about just consolidating all my spawn

So you would give it a week consolidation time after full colonization like we do with jars of spawn?

I wouldn't consolidate a spawned tub, just the jars of spawn (nutrients) coir subs don't really have any nutes, subs are just for myc expansion and water supply

so before were you not consolidating your jars of spawn, just giving them full colonization? I always thought we were supposed to even consolidate grain jars, not just cakes.

Hmmm...my inclination would be to let the sub consolidate not to mention, consolidated spawn doesn't break up and spread around well...Do you run into issues with that?

I've never consolidated spawn until I started messing with pe. I'm pretty sure most ppl spawn once %100 colonized

Once spawned to a tub it's pretty much in fruiting regardless if the holes are polyd or taped up. There is so much air space in a tub and the lids aren't air tight so it's getting air exchange as soon as spawned.
The spawn is a little harder to break up but I just break any chunks up with my hand when spawning

I found mine knotted up at a normal time after full colonization but the amount of time they took to mature was rediculously slow, which may still work with your original theory.

It may have been when I was reading up on shiitake, so this may not be true for cubes. Some where I remember reading that anount of "food" all ready digested plays a very important roll in fruiting results. Any got any input either for or against?

P, do you have a pic of that tray you made that you thought the spawn was bacterial? I've got some ape jars that were a little too wet from my LI pour and their myc really makes me
