I did 3 shoeboxes with upside down lid, 1 quart each to a bulk substrate, cased with jiffy/sand...I'm getting some killer flushes but they are slow growing and havent gotten to the point of opening the caps yet. I'm really hoping for some printable caps!
Good luck brotha!!!

You've got it. Now you've seen them and know their nature. They print well IME, it's just about not letting them dry.

How do you print them different from cubensis?

I personally get a small print container I can fit in my SAB and mist the inside of it before I place my foil and cap in there.
To humidify it and keep the cap from drying out. Otherwise it will dry out 9 times out of 10. Some people prefer to sterilize a syringe of water and put a single drop on each cap when you print it.
I've done both and it worked out good. But I prefer to mist my chamber just because it's quicker lol. Mist lightly so water doesn't bead up too much and drop on your foil.

Thanks for the advice, ill definitely do that this time. I noticed they really dried up on my with just a paper towel over top of them. Makes sense since they were so tiny. Maybe they grew slow too because lack of high humidity? well see in a few weeks

3/23/17- tampanensis jars were soaked in cold water for 15 min then poured into tray. The grains were then cased very thinly with a pasteurized 50/50 jiffy mix. Then placed in a SGFC with about 4 inches of perlite just to clarify for any nubes lol
Higher humidity should cause this to pin quicker than my monotub which took 7 days. We shall see very soon. Hopefully ill get prints too

Yeah i do, i just know the humidity inside a mono isnt high enough for the tamps. Thats why im using a SGFC. Ugh the pinset is so nice, dont wanna ruin it. Maybe ill put it in a mono with some perlite and turn a fan on just to circulate fresh air till i get back. My tray wont produce enough heat to regulate a monos humidity so perlite should help out

Mono's can grow tamps just fine. FAE is more important than humidity anyways.
If you're leaving for a couple days, they'll be fine. In the wild they can go many days at a time with no rain and a giant evaporative sun.

I had issues with my last tamp. Mono bc the caps didnt devolop the way they should when it was good humidity and fae. I had 4 trays and that still didnt make the mono work the same way as if you used a bulk substrate. Eather way im gonna put them in a mono till i get back. Will update with pics later

I put the tray in a mono with a fan indirectly blowing air around it. Put some perlite in the bottom too to help it maintain good humidity. I noticed tampanensis is more sensitive then cubensis when it comes to this. Caps are more fragile. But heres some pics as promised
Its gonna be a full pinset, cased tampanensis grains for the win . Will update in a few days

Thanks dude, its wierd why yours grew fast but my tamps are always slow growing. I had a buddy eat 2 grams dry of the fruits and he said he just felt really high, not trippy. I thought these are twice as potent as cubensis?

Yeah, probably genetics man hopefully we can get some solid information on these fruit bodies here soon from the community. I had similar experiences. 2-3g wasn't very visual.. just a head high. 5+ was a level 5 for me. I'm kind of a light weight with some species & varieties though.
But lately I've frozen the tea from them fresh and sipped that. Holds fresh potency pretty well. Maybe the fruit bodies hold potency for a short duration? I'm new to copelandia's but I heard they dont hold potency as long as cubes. Maybe it's a small fruitbody thing?

By the way, im going to wait till the caps get flat to harvest for prints. Ill print them inside my SGFC too after the harvest so the caps dont dry out on me like the last time.

Looking dope. I think you would have better success using grain that has been fully colonized for just a few days and mixing with a substrate that it could get water out of instead of a casing. What do you guys think?

I mean i agree with the part about jars being a few weeks old but cased grains produce better flushes in my expierence than substrate mixed with grains. Shomann agrees with this too. Plus did you not see the sick pinset i have? Lol

Yeah it's a great pinset but the fruit don't look as healthy as they could be. They seem like they're thirsty imo. Thanks for the input. Doing a few runs of bulk myself I will see how it goes compared to my experience with casing the grains.

I agree somewhat but i havent used a SGFC in years so im sure that has something to do with it. But i got around 19 grams dry from this tray. Seems like 2 grams dry isnt enough to trip. I think these are the same potency wise as cubensis just a different type of trip. My buddy is gonna try 3.5 and let me know.

These were noc'd on 5-17. The intent was to Fruit. be gently, it's my first grow.
Can these still be fruited with all the stones? If yes, do I dunk and roll as usual?

Yes they can be fruited with the stones. You don't even have to remove the stones. For fruiting, pop the cakes out of the jars, dunk as usual, but instead of rolling, place the cakes back into the jars, and top case with your preferred casing cover (I like 50/50+).

"50/50+" = sphagnum peat moss/vermiculite + 1 part gypsum &, or .25 parts hydrated lime, or crushed oyster shell. https://www.shroomery.org/54/50-50-Casing-Tek

I'd also like to add that with the 50/50+ tek, you add the gypsum, and hydrated lime to the amount of peat moss used only by volume of materials dry. Mix, and hydrate the peat moss with the gypsum, and lime separately from the vermiculite. Hydrate the vermiculite separately, mixing the materials thoroughly together once they have properly hydrated separately.
Furthermore, once colonized, before the dunk, Mexicana cakes can be dried in front of a fan, or flow hood for 2-12 hours before the dunking step for an increased yield. The drying step isn't necessary.

If I was to leave them out of the jars, dry, dunk and roll, would that be an issue? I ask because in one of these threads someone said they had to break a couple of their jars to get them out. If I have to do that, I'll have no choice but to fruit them without the jar. The two below are Pan Cyan Cambo. What's the beige circular growth? It started about 5 days ago. Do I need to toss it? Out of 8 jars it's the only one to have it. Should the Myc be closer to the top or wait a little while longer to dunk.
