Cray-zee stipes:
Also, WARNING TO ALL CHCH HUNTERS: a friend of mine went to a well-known eastern beach location last week and there were cops with drones there. Stay safe, everyone

Dicks aye, not like we don't have, e.g. the worst rates of child abuse and sexual assault in the OECD, nor that only something like 3% of burglaries get solved... let's go after people speeding by 3km/hr and mushie hunters!

Fucking drone flying criminal cunts. Go do some real work. Nz pigs are such spineless pussies. They'd rather kick down the door of 65year old joe blogs who grows a couple of plants a year for pain relief than investigate the multi million dollar gang methamphetamine trade which is running rampant through this country.
Nice find atleast bro!

we're due for rain tomorrow and next week
in the meantime, checked out a new spot today and found these aesthetically pleasing shrooms:
They were this weird phenotype I haven't seen before. All strongly bruised blue and were found in typical (grass) sub habitat, although the underlying wood would've been much older than I'm used to. They had almost a metallic olive cap, darker stems than I'm used to on subs, and the caps didn't change colour when they dried (except to go bluer). You know how wet sub caps look almost waxy, like shiny? These ones had almost a slightly roughened texture. It's hard to explain. On the way home I nipped into another spot to get a comparison 'normal' grass sub. This is the third distinctive phenotype (I'm assuming) I've found: bark subs are short and meaty with dark caramel brown caps; grass subs are tall and thinner with much lighter/golder caps; and now these ones. Some comparison shots: 'typical' grass sub I usually find:
these new ones:
comparisons:
bonus pics: the most hard-out bluing mycena I've ever seen. I think they're mycena amicta. They had dried considerably by the time I got them home, but when I picked the larger one I could see what looked like white spore deposits on the stipe. The smaller one had an insanely blue base!

I've never managed to get anything going from the cardboard technique unfortunately....might give it another shot this year tho.
if I may...take your P. subaeruginosa butts and put them in a plant pot in which you've put wood chips--the kind used for smoking meat that should be sold at major grocery stores I'm guessing are perfect--that you've soaked for a day or so in plain water. you need not go to cardboard first.
nice finds!

Good stuff! driving me crazy. Spent almost 3 hours in a pine forest today and found nothing, right after rain too. Starting to think Nelson region is completely void of anything active.

And here I was hoping that I'd be the one starting this thread. Seems like I'm a bit late on the uptake
Gave my patches a quick check today and found a few pins popping. There was also a few around the ones in the first picture that have been chopped by a mower.

Definitely look like a Psilocybe sp. and worth further investigation. You can wrap them in a damp tissue or paper towel to stop them drying out.
