All 12 jars have growth. Yeah! One of my plates germinated too. Yeah! But it has trich! Boo! So I set up my SAB and transfered the myc out of it to a new plate. I haven't had to transfer from contaminants yet so fingers crossed. Guess I'll see if my sterile procedure is up to par.

Most jars are 1/3colonized. One is at 10% because i didnt inoculate half the cake and one like 60%. The transfer after the trich plate been transfered again. I now have 4 plates with wedges on them. Trichs long gone. I do have one question. Since not all the cakes are colonizing at the same speed can I wait till full colonization of the jars to dunk and then case? Im under the impression that i can wait til they are fully colonized together to case and until they are cased they wont fruit. I plan on using jiffy seed starter as a casing layer.

All but one jars is fully colonized. I'm waiting until it colonized fully and consolidates a week before trying to fruit. I have 4 petris that will be transfered to there own grain jars in a few days.

No one can tell you that it could be between 0g to infinity. No idea how much will grow or how many cakes etc

I know cubes would give me 2.5 at least. Never grew pan cyans before tho. But like i said I'm going to monotubs soon. I have a few plates going to grain in a few days. It's just anxiety is why I'm curious. I'll probably get anxious for every new shroom I grow.

I've never grown pans, but from my research, they do a lot better with a thin substrate for tubs. I have them on agar, but the myc is so thin that I'm not supremely confident it's pan cyan myc.

I'm going to knock up some grain jars with agar tomorrow night or so.

Should I dunk these cakes? I'm not sure. I re-read WayLitJim tek and he doesn't mention it he just says take the dry verm off and case. Will dunking them hurt? I don't want to do something I shouldnt.

Pan mycelium is wispier, and a little bit more delicate, than cube myce.
With pans I prefer to make an LC, and inoculate grain that way with liberal amounts of LC, so the grains won't have to be shook.
It's not a deal breaker, or anything to shake pan mycelium, but pan myce does have a slightly higher chance of not recovering after the shake than cubes is all.
PS- dunk and roll the cakes.

Hey hamloaf I was going to put them back in the glass jars inside the sgfc with pasteurized jiffy mix on top like WayLitJim cases his pf style cakes. Are you suggesting if I roll I won't need to use the pasteurized jiffy mix? Or I should roll and add the casing? And as far as lc goes how much per quart jar? Im thinking of cloning to agar and make some lc after your advice.

Oooh, Idk about that. I have never fruited cakes like that. It's hard to discern what I'd do being that pans like it a little less humid, and are less CO2 tolerant than cubes.
If it were me, and I was in doubt, I'd dunk a few cakes, and not dunk a few cakes, placing them back in the jars, using the casing as per the tek being followed to see which worked best. I'd forget the verm too.
A couple cc's of LC split between 5 inoculation points. 1 down each side of the jar, and one right down the center.

Any opinions on this? Pan Cyan T2 (initial plate was 100% colonized and kept in a fridge for quite some time).
