Again, very beautiful saralove:)
Just a quick question, how long was the grass seed spawn run and do you have any images of the culture on agar? Here's a link to wild and semi wild observations for macroscopic comparison. http://mushroomobserver.org/observer/observation_search?pattern=psilocybe+alutacea

Saralove - Really awesome thread. Both the project and the photos. I've PMed you. I'm also in SoCal and would like very much to replicate your success with outdoor beds - particularly the ovoids. I would greatly appreciate any tips and/or starting material if you had the time and inclination to be of assistance. Thanks in advance. By the way, your photos and projects are amongst my favorites on this site. Keep up the awesome work!

Bunya said: Great pics saralove. Did you notice any distinctive features of the mycelium on agar? Any coments on its growth rate on agar.
Thanks Bunya. The mycelium was thin, wispy, and took weeks to grow.
I cleaned it up on MEYA a few times at about a month each.

Thanks inksi. The MO pics are great!
A quart of grass seed, gypsum, and weak coffee took 60+ days at room temperature. I didn't take pictures of the culture this time, but if I play with them again next cold season, I'll take a few to share.
For me so far, the majority of Section Semilanceatae looks and behaves pretty much the same on agar.
