Undocumented workers contribute about 3 percent of private-sector gross domestic product, or about $5 trillion over a decade, according to their paper, published by the National Bureau of Economic Research.
It's not surprising conservatives don't understand economics. They've been destroying economies for decades, then liberals have to come in and clean up the mess.

they understand their ideology VERY well, though. and unwittingly, they are excellent propagandists.

If it lowers profit margins then so be it, my main concern is the working classes, not the top 1%.

Nothing hurts the working class more than increased food prices, and that's what you want apparently. Why do you hate poor people? Even the white ones.
Why do you want Americans to starve?

According to your line of reasoning, the US should import 20 million unskilled Africans to boost economic GDP, do you understand how ridiculous that sounds?

Their higher wages would more than makeup the difference, but you would rather have high levels of US black and Hispanic unemployment to justify your flawed ideology, how selfish of you.

I know how ridiculous your question is.
Just like an unemployment rate of 0 is just as bad as an unemployment rate of 15%, there is a sweet spot for immigrant migrant labor. We actually don't have enough Mexicans as demonstrated by the crushing construction labor shortage, where projects are being shelved.
Why are you trying to ruin the economy?

Ugh there's point in arguing with someone who doesn't know fuck all about economics.
We need to indentify the trump voters, take away their meth pipes and pull the needles out of their arms, and ship them off to the fields to do the work that needs to be done that won't get done because we are scaring away the undocumented backbone of agricultural labor.

Good, let them bid up the wages in the unstable construction industry, let the projects get shelved until they pay a decent wage for US citizens, NOT illegals.

Exactly, wages are on the rise in the construction industry, and all libs want to do is water down the market with cheap labor

Ok, so by your logic the answer the upcoming MASSIVE labor shortage in agriculture is higher wages (a lot higher). I guess everyone has to pay twice as much for their lettuce to indulge your Aryan pipe dreams.

Why would you not want higher wages for people who work in agriculture?

You are willing to accept the inflation in food prices? That affects poor people the most.

Or maybe the margins drop as the food price remains the same as today. Why do you think the rich wanted an open southern border the past 40 years? It wasn't to socialize their children with Mexican peasants. It was about the MONEY!!!

Lol. Dream on. That's some serious magical thinking.
Seriously

And you're assuming you can actually get Americans to do the work. And that is a stretch of the imagination. Even for you.

Undocumented workers account for 67 percent of people harvesting fruit, according to the Agriculture Department. They make up 61 percent of all employees on vegetable farms, and as many as half of all workers picking crops.
Agricultural economists across the political spectrum say that there’s no way that workforce could be raptured up without reverberations throughout the food system — think farm bankruptcies, labor shortages and an eventual contraction of the broader economy. And even if you’re far from the agriculture industry, you could see $4 milk, low-quality oranges, and extortionately priced raspberries.

Less money for the owners, money for the workers, and yes, Id pay more if it meant paying the workers more.
And if wages rise, the working poor could afford more.

Not necessarily, the price paid for food would still reflect what people are willing to pay for it. Right now, food is extremely cheap and plentiful. The reason they get cheap labor is because they can, and the rich get richer
