I spawned these this past Sunday. used 3 Qt jars in each(each were 2/3 to 3/4 full). Mixed with 2 full QT of CVG and cased. Got 2 more of these to make up today or tomorrow. Totally doing mini-mono's(got idea from Pasty) with Pastys micropore tape idea, and even based my LC that I used off of his EZ LC Tek before he removed it.
Pastey I have to say thanks. I have learned/ picked up a LOT from you.

thanks.. there wasn't very many of them, but they were all Uuuuge..
They were hillbillies.. lived up to their name for sure. Wish I had used larger holes like you do here... these were done with hpoo and straw too. they stretched a bit on the second..

I also just floated the sub.. I think that some why they just grew mainly on the outside edges.. thinking that if I had submerged them, they would have done better on the second.. pretty sure it got tossed after that though.

I attributed it to the fruits expanding really fast... pasty also noticed a genetic component to it; he's had clones do the same no matter what sub they were grown on and this was a clone as well. Didn't hurt them at all.

So I am looking for ANY input on what I am doing wrong or need to be doing. I have grown in these trays rather well before. They are reaching about the point where I increase FAE on them. By the end I will have removed all tape from the foil trays and they do great with all those little holes. The mini-mono's, well they are new to me and I just want feedback.
**Have been colonizing for 1 full week today.
ALL of these have the same genetics(Costa Rica) and are mixed the same. 3 Qt jars to 2 Qt CVG and cased with a mix that's about 30% coir and 70% verm.
I have been patching for even growth. This time I mixed a little coir into my casing mix, as the verm I can find around me is fine and tends to compact. Has not been a huge issue but I wanted to try mixing a little coir in. Well as you will see it seems to want to colonize, specially in the one mini-mono. Not a huge issue as a casing layer is not needed and there is good surface moist.
So the mini-monos have 1 layer micro pore on top holes and 2 layers on bottom. Do you guys think I should increase FAE on the monotubs? Should both be let go and I increase when surface is colonized now, even though that's my casing layer lol, not really shit I can do about it. PLEASE GUIDE ME!!! Thanks Pasty and the gang

When you same genetics do you mean isolates or clones? Regardless if the culture is in a strong colonzing state then it will colonize a casing regardless of what the FAE is like. Personally I would just hit it with a mist to ensure its not dry and then just let it do.

It was multi spore cleaned up over I think 5 generations. I made sure not to narrow my transfers to much so to get stuck with something worthless. I made my transfers in "strips" across a couple nice sectors side by side. All came from the same LC jar. I am rather happy with how the mycelium looks. I know this was the cleanest spawn I have ever had as all other was MS lol. Should I remove a bit of tape an increase the FAE or just let it go and it will pin soon on its own. Also here is a few more pics of that most colonized tub. A couple up close.

Just an FYI, multispore does not mean same genetics. Clone or isolate is what would be same genetics. Just because the variety is Costa Rica doesn't mean you don't have hundreds of strains in that colony.

Ok my bad. I was thinking it was since it had the same genetic origins out in the world. So it's the same variety/world origins then. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

Woke up to find mold in one tub and one tray. such a sad day. Atleast the nice looking tub shows a bit of knoting. Still sucks to loose half my crop. I need a beer.

Thanks for the tek. I'm going to be using this tek with 4-6 tubs(4 already colonizing). I'm using the sterlite 56 or 58 quart tubs that everyone seems to get. Would you recommended the 6 1.25" holes or something larger?
Also would you be able to set and forget till harvest without fanning/misting (once you dial it in properly)

Just did really good with this tek, makes the tubs look cleaner too. So thanks I bought some 2" micropore works better but 1" is fine

I decided to give this a go. I never did like using polyfil. I only used it on pasty plates and grain jars but I have had little success. I was using old poly from a very well used pillow and I think it's just too far gone to sterilize in normal PC cook times. So I picked up some micropore... so I thought. I picked up another clear tote for a mono while I was at it. Turns out I got the 3M cloth durapore tape I totally thought I grabbed the right stuff.
I can't seem to find much about it on here except for someone giving it a try but not saying much about results. I went ahead and made the mono using it along with pasty's hole sizes and locations. Exact same taping method too. I have a cake pan in there that is 90% colonized so I guess we'll just have to see how it goes.
