Slowly getting bigger and fatter, I think the first flush needed misting.

Whats the normal time scale for peat to contaminate? It's been 14 days so far, all clean. There are a few more pins.

Well its open to the air, at a guess the CaCO3 water @ pH 8.8 for misting is doing what I want.

Some fruits have doubled overnight, the caps are more brown than grey, I definitely needed to mist the first flush.

And yes I am getting more than one flush from news paper pellets (enriched).

Side note: No metabolites, no pooling, no discolouration. The substrate is pure white.

Well they self pruned, the casing is providing the other nutrients I needed. Conclusion for paper pellets, add 50g of compost powder per 100g.
You should benefit from pre-enriched wood-peat compost. Hydrate with high pH (10-12), calcium water, pH 8.4 - 8.8 for misting.

The compost should be added to the boiling hot hydration water for better distribution of solubles.
Simply mix the pH adjusted mixture together, add any further additives-materials.**

Now hydrate your base substrate with this hot adjusted-enriched fluids.

** You may need to adjust pH again to the desired level.
