That's a good idea! I don't have any colonized at the moment...had to take a short break from cult...just got spores germinated and made a few transfers...gonna make a couple more and colonized grains once I know I got clean plates to start knoc'in jars up...

I love the ease of pasty plates, but poured petri's are so much more fun to look at.
Some promising AA+ (First transfer from spore plate)

Pan Cambo Sandose (first transfer from spore plate)

Penis Envy... very questionable. Just can't seem to get a decent culture of these from the syringe that I have.

And some Pan Cambo Sandose pin clones that lost the race...

Ha, yeah. I've gotten stare and star both, hence my user title. Didn't think I'd stick around long so I just came up with a quick name. One of my most memorable trips was with an ex-gf where we sat staring at clouds for a bit. I pointed at a cloud that morphed into something and the cloud morphed around to point back to me.
Word @ them being a gift. I have no clue what they are so I'll just recommend he buy some SFDs since he'll need them at some point.

Oh, so pretty. I always try and take as many prints as I can, most times I don't let the caps open enough to drop a good print, so when I get a bunch flatten out because I was late to harvest, I'll take a bunch of prints.
Now, to begin labeling as this is my second cubensis variety, Z strain and now PESA.

PE has always appeared more whispy than other cube myc to me, even on grain jars.

I'm not the best at IDing contams and almost always thought they'd be bacterial, but fruited them anyway since they smelled fine and I wasn't 100% of the bac. They went on to produce fine in nearly all of my attempts and went multiple flushes (including tons of blobs on the first).

Your results my vary, but don't immediately suspect contams with whispy PE myc. I'd take another transfer from both of the distinct sections and see what happens on the next plate to each.

Interesting. I wasn't quite ready to give up them yet, but that does make me a little more optimistic about it. It's mainly the bottom left quarter of the plate that makes me nervous since it's kind of grainy looking. Can't hurt to make a transfer from it and see what happens though.

Nope, not glass. Just regular old plastic petris. I know myself well enough to stay clear of the glass ones... I'm sure I'd end up having to clean up broken glass shards during every SAB session if I used them.

I had some myc do this recently. After I dropped it to grain it smartened up
Try subbing in a bit of brf to your agar mix and see if it helps with the growth. I found that also helped. I was strictly running PDA but I subbed out a gram of potato flake for a gram of BRF on my last run and it did my cultures some good
