Hey Bod!
I have a question regarding the shaking of the jars, should shake them just after inoculating them OR every other day after inoculating too?
Thanks for your posts again

If you inoculated jars with spores don't shake If you inoculated with agar or any other way than spores shake at inoculation.
Then shake at 30-50%
Then you shake to break them up to spawn them
So 2 or 3 shakes ever depending.

Hey more questions! haha How many quarts of spawn do you use per 650g of coir? I dont have much experience so I used 6 quarts lol How long should I wait after doing the coir/spawn mix to start fruiting?
Thanks again!

Anybody that's on the fence, this Tek is noob proof. The 9 jars I did on page 1 are almost finished with LI with one pasty plate. They look great colonization wise, best I've ever had by far. And my prep sucked. My own fault. Cooked them abit long, kinda starchy, but still in my experience this was 10000x easier first attempt than all 15 of my tries with WBS

Why is Coco Coir so good against contaminants? Just wondering, does someone know the science behind it? Thanks

Hey bodhi, I'm having a few clumps of oats when I prep like this. Is this OK? They shake up super easy, but some are kinda clumped together.
Also, how do you check if you have a few burst grains? My boil water is pretty damn dark by 45 mins. I've tried scooping some out but I'd kinda like a bigger picture type view.
Guess I could boil more water and swap out at 30 mins? Lol

Been experiencing the same clumping. Even with use of gypsum. Normally only cooking 30 minutes. Don't pay as much attention to time as just eating them and tossing in strainer when they're edible. Starting to get frustrated and heading back to the drawing board. Feel like clumping grains shouldn't be this much of a head scratcher. Lol..
Edit; My problem was not properly soaking my grain. I just tossed em straight into boiling water. I soaked with hot tap water and stopped having issues.

Lol followed your directions step by step and have no idea how this happened. Any ideas on where I went wrong? This was after 2 hour pressure cook.

Never made a jar look like that before you sure you got whole oats? Not the kind for human consumption

Those are definitely whole oats. Looks to me like they were either loaded into the jars too wet before sterilization, or water from the pressure cooker somehow made it's way into the jars during the sterilization cycle.
Either way, those are too wet for mushroom mycelium to comfortably colonize, so generating a new batch of whole oats will be required.
