Howard Stern bashing Bush!
    #2411925 -

hooray! Does anybody listen to Howard Stern?

Recently the FCC attacked his show due to his recent gripings about the Bush administration following the whole huge circus surrounding Janet Jackson's stupid boob during the stupid superbowl.

Now Stern is dedicated to influencing his listeners to not vote for Bush.

I heard him say some very strong stuff regarding the Prezzie, things to the effect of "Don't be fooled by this administration - they want to take away all of our freedoms and blur separation between church and state"

Anybody been paying attention to this unfolding drama? I've always loved listening to Stern but was never really in agreeance with his political views - it sounds like he has started waking up recently and I've found this to be amazing considering the vast numbers of voters he has access to.

Even Rush Limbaugh said that he supports Howard in his fight for free speech, although Rush doesn't like what Howard has to say.

Anybody been following this? I never expected Howard Stern to become so political.... his past three shows have been DAMN GOOD RADIO for sure

there may be salvation for that shameless

he was all up on GeeDub's nuts early on.

I actually stopped listening a couple years back
because I couldn't stand his blind ignorance on
domestic and foreign matters.

I'm glad he's begining to open his eyes, hopefully
his lemmings will follow his lead.

I've always found Stern to be a despicable, hate-filled, yet entertaining person. I've listened to his show for years and thought that even though he pushes the envelope regarding freedom of speech, he's very conservative regarding politics.

It makes me very happy to hear that Stern is becoming active in the fight against the Bush administration. How much does he discuss it? I hope he discusses it a lot. He played a big part in getting Christie Todd Whitman elected years ago just by ordering his minions to vote for her.

Vote George Bush out of office. That's all I ask. Remember me when you go to the voting booth."
"If you don' t think me going after Bush got me thrown off those stations, you got another thing coming," said Stern. "This has nothing to do with anything I said."
"My days here are numbered because I dared to speak out against the Bush administration and say that the religious agenda of George W. Bush concerning stem cell research and gay marriage is wrong," Stern continued. "And that what he is doing with the FCC is pushing this religious agenda. And also the fact that the guy takes more vacation than any President ever. It's time for him to leave. Having said that pushed me off the air in six markets."

and he goes on an on about it the whole show. great stuff.

It's only Howard "the king of all media" Stern's self aggrandizement that makes him think he's even a pimple on anybody's butt. Nobody cares about his fucking politics, only how many lesbians he can spank. Janet Jackson's tits got him thrown off those stations. Them and his obscenities. Look, I don't care what he says on the radio, I've never found him offensive or obscene, just retarded. I think you have to be pretty stupid to listen to his weak-ass shit. Don't blame Bush for this, he doesn't really care.

When a person hated as much as Howard Stern by the religious right speaks publicly about something political, he's is suspect of selling out to the interests of those he is supposedly offending.

Maybe I'm giving old Stern more credit than he deserves, it's unlikely after all that the opinions of Howard Stern are going to throw much weight in the areas where his show was thrown off the air.

You don't cancel a radio show on a radio station for some small reason. Not one as big as Howard Stern. They know which way the wind is blowing.

Howard Stern is played on just about every radio in every factory, sweat shop, metal working shop, across america. Thats not even counting the truckers and other commercial drivers who listen as well. Usually these people don't vote, but since stern is asking maybe they will. i think bush is screwed, he messed with one of the few things lower middle class/poor people have for entertainment. BTW, I got out of my jeep to gas up this morning and howard was playing on the gas station attendants radio. I love it!

Yeah, Stern's listeners are an extremely loyal group, much more so than alot of people would think. If he is telling them to vote Bush out, then that is what many of them will do. I listened to some of the broadcasts over the past few days and it is the most serious Stern I have ever heard. He is constantly harping on this and about how horrible Bush is. If he does actually get his show cancelled, there is no way in hell a large percentage of his listeners won't get out and vote Bush out of office just like he told them to. I think that even if his show doesn't get cancelled it is still over for Bush. I mean, some of these people have been listening to him for like 20 years. He has an enormous audience which covers the entire country. I think that if this election is going to be a close race, which I think it will be, then Stern's actions alone will be enough to swing the vote in Kerry's favor. I mean, I know its pretty much a fact that like 90% of people voting already know who they are voting for because they do it strictly by party lines. This 10% that is undecided are the ones that only need a subtle push in one direction or the other to get them to vote a specific way. What Stern is doing could definitely shove many to Kerry.

Whoever is doing this to Stern is grossly underestimating the loyalty and support which he will have from a large percentage of his listeners. I am SO glad all of this is happening. It's actually making me think that Kerry will win this and Bush will be out. Haha, I love it, Howard Stern getting GW Bush booted out of office. Who would have ever thought?

I consider myself on the "right" and all I saw was a desperate has-been trying to get some attention. It's easy to blame it on the "religious right" but all this FCC controversy stemed from that incident, they needed an excuse. Our local radio station has been warned and faces some heavy fines now even if they slip up and the 7 sec delay doesn't catch it. It seems as though the the meek are in fact inheriting our media sources. What's the next step?

In the "Ripping Apart Bush Ads" clip, Howard Stern makes a great point about Bush using 9-11 footage in his ads.. He goes "Imagine using 9-11 footage. I mean, can you imagine if I put out a TV commercial with 9-11 footage and told you to listen to my show, and said I was a great American on the hallowed ground where people died?"

That's such a great point, because if it's ok for Bush to use 9-11 footage in his commercial just because it was something that happened during his Presidency, shouldn't it be ok for Howard Stern to use 9-11 footage in a commercial to promote his show? After all, Howard Stern was what a LOT of people were listening to the morning 9-11 happened. It was a major event in the history of the Stern show. Wouldn't Howard Stern be a fool not to use the footage in a commercial for his show?

Of course not. Sadly, after years of people wanting the government involved in so much, there's little chance of stopping them now.

People wanted nannies, nannies is what they got.

Government should have been strictly limited to the powers set forth in the constitution and no more.

It would be fun to laugh at the assholes who screamed for the government to do this, that, and the other except for the fact that it affects those of us who didn't want them involved in everything.

Thanks a lot.

"regulation of content on the internet?"

YES! Precisely - if you are familiar with the project for a new american century (contributed to by people like Rumsfield, Cheney, Wolvowitz...), you may have read their giant document, Rebuilding America's Defenses. In this document, they discuss cyberspace and mention how one of their MAJOR goals is to "Control the new 'international commons' of space and 'cyberspace:"

"If outer space represents an emerging medium of warfare, then 'cyberspace,' and in particular the Internet hold similar promise and threat. And as with space, access to and use of cyverspace and the Internet are emerging elements in global commerce, politics, and power. Any nation wishing to assert itself globally must take account of this other new 'global commons.'
"The internet is also playing an increasingly important role in warfare and human political conflict. From the early use of the Internet by Zapatista insurgents in Mexico to the war in Kosovo, communication by computer has added a new dimension to warfare. Moreover, the use of the internet to spread computer virusesreveals how easy it can be to disrupt the normal functioning of commercial and even military computer networks. Any nation which cannot assure the free and secure access of its citizens to these systems will sacrifice an element of its sovereignty and its power."

So it appears to me that they're going to work on making the internet "free and secure" for all.

The free part is great...... its the "secure" part that scares the fuck out of me, because isn't an anti-bush website during the bush administration a major security threat? I don't think so, but I'll bet they would.

They're going to control first the older medias, and then work on the internet. Eventually, "Freedom" will only apply to very powerful people.
