Shrooms that grow in manure
    #2411715 - 03/09/04 05:20 PM (20 years, 23 days ago)

Hi, today I went to a couple of horse stables and I was surprised about how cool were the people I talked to. They said that when it rains there appear a large quantity of mushrooms, on the manure and on the ground. They were so kind and didn't have a clue about magic mushrooms. Ideal. For what they told me, I will find a lot of mushrooms in that place. Now, are there are any species that can be dangerous or not psychoactive that grow on horse manure?, in other words, if I find mushrooms growing directly on horse manure, are they Panaeolus Subalteatus for sure? The same question for cow manure (can i expect to find just Pan. Subalteatus, cubensis and cyans on cow dung? or there are some non-active or dangerous ones?
I will come to those places after the fisrt rains, and will take pictures and post here for you to help me to Id them.

peace,
wingo.

Depends on where you live.

When I hunt for subbalteatus, I will usually also find Coprinus species (not edible), inactive Panaeolus campanulatus, other Panaeolus species, as well as cup fungi, Psilocybe coprophila (inactive) and stinkhorns.

The most common I will find is subbalteatus though.

Actually I was talking about Copelandia Cyanescens, I got that info from the FAQ's.
Angryshroom, are those mushrooms that you mentioned similar to subbalteatus? is it easy to mistake one of them with a subb.?
I live in Chile, I think pan. subbalteatus can grow here, am i wrong?
I'll wait for the rain, take a cammera and go hunting. Can't wait..
Thanks for the input guys-
