I took my saw saw and cut it up in small pieces then ran it through my hand crank grain mill, Then turned it into powder with a normal blender.. (for double extraction)

cool. Im still not sure how i'll break it up. Saw sounds good, i have a hand metal saw that might do it. Ever try with a hammer? I also read to use a chisel. I bought a handle of vodka but it didn't go as far as i expected, ended up using it all on the reishi i had. Took a whole handle for .3 lbs reishi. Made 800ml extract.

I used: 1.4 liters of 40% vodka to cover 14 ounces of chaga powder in a gallon glass jar....(six weeks of stirring every other day)..
I use a clean white t-shirt to strain and ring out all alcohol.
Set alc. extract to the side and start reducing chaga in a pot of water with low heat. (a few hours) then strain the chaga juice into a container and set that to the side.
Repeat the reducing process again and again until the chaga is totally clean.
Then you add all your chaga water extracts that you have laying around into one pot and reduce that down to the desired amount. In my case I needed .84 liters water extract to add to my alcohol to end up with the sum of 25% alcohol.. It took a couple of days to do the water extraction process.
This calculator was a big help...

just pulverized .5 lbs, fills a mason jar about 3/4. I tried the saw, tried using pliers, then settled with a cold chisel and hammer. The pieces go flying but next time i do it inside a small tote to contain the flyers. I made them into 1/2" chunks then loaded into my magic bullet and that turned it into a fine powder. Ill get another bottle of new amsterdam vodka tomorrow.

Scrape the black exterior off and let it soak in alcohol(over 80 proof), for up to 2 months and combine with a strong tea made from the bright red-yellow-orange, marbled, interior. You'll be left with a wonderful dual extract with a full spectrum of benefits
