Is it stroma ????
    #2410909 - 03/09/04 01:47 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Hello a friend of my sister has two trays of cased grain (psylo cubensis mexican strain) in a terrarium with the right temp and rh (24 to 25 celsius and 96 rh all the time) and they show signs of stroma (I think) like white fluffly balls of mycelium growing over the casing, they have been 7 days in fruiting after cold shocking one night at 10 celsius and nothing happens except more stroma, what can he do ? will he get any fruits at all ? thanks for tips and answers ! Pedro

Some strains grow extensive mycelial balls, I have used the name stroma but am unsure whether this is the correct term or not. I am dealing with this on my Puerto Rican casing right now. I don't know of any remedy, the feature seems to be strain related. The stroma I am talking about are dense mycelial upwellings that look like hills of mycelium.

The pre-pinning phase can take 7-10 days, you are at the lower end of the time frame, I'd say patience is best for now. I am leaving my PR casing in the incubator and am going to be patient. I wish you the best of luck.

Here's a pic of what I am talking about. This pic was taken of a casing with 3/4 inch casing layer. The mycelium grew through the casing layer into the solid form you see it as. This pic was taken 9 days ago, no sign of hyphal knots yet.
