Mycologist217 said: Today was a big day. The 55gal Steam Sterilizer, and incubation cabinet are complete. I am very much liking how well the Incubation cabinet works! The Build was simple and should make for very cheap temperature controlling year round.

The incubation cabinet build was done using an Inkbird ITC-1000. It is a temperature controller that is basically wired to the outlet featured in the photos. One outlet is "heating" and will turn on whenever temperatures drop below 72F and will heat the chamber to 75F. In hotter temps a fan is connected to the "cooling" outlet when temperatures rise above 78F and cool the chamber to 75F. Super easy and cheap to do...the whole cabinet cost about 130$
I installed a drain on the sterilizer today...barely missed ruining this drum...PHEW....oh wow PHEW...really just hit me....got the drain in...wrapped the unit in left over insulation from the incubation cabinet and packing film....I have a special outlet in the shed for this that can be set to run cycles...I suppose I'll run this for 24 hours...gonna give it a 24hour test run in the next day or two. Had it going for about 8 hours today without any problems....we will see.
The sterilizer was built using a 55 gal stainless steel drum, which i drilled a 1.25" hole into for the 1500watt heating element very low to the bottom...connected a power cable to the heating element. There is a stainless steel float valve set in a .75" hole set to maintain water level about 1" about the heating element...maybe 1.5". a hose line or rigid water line could connect into this float valve...it operates best under very low pressure (~18psi). There is a drain valve installed as low as I could possibly get it. This cost about 500$ to build.

Pardon me but is your controller installed in the space that gets humid formfruiting? If so I highly recommend you route it outside- even if it's rated for the exposure- just think 24/7; if not than I apologize and withdraw the inquiry. Do you have an out fan ducting directly outside?

Ah OK I didnt know if you meant you were doing a test run.
This is in an outdoor shed? That's why the incubator?
I have a friend with some land who wants to start a medium size gourmet grow, and asked me if I want in, which I think will be fun. They have money, I'd love to help them build one of these large sterilizers- learn to build it on his dime

it is an outdoor shed...we insulated the inside, and put up outside panels, a vinyl floor, and put heavy duty plastic sheeting over the walls and cieling. We ran, power, water, and gas to the building...have over 60AMPS availible to us on 4 independent 15amp circuits. Just gotta lock down some soy hull and I'm ready to start.

Swamp cooler rig...basically a large plastic tote I installed a float valve into...the water runs into the oral he bucket set up where an aquarium pump forces it through a sprinkler head saturating the swamp cooler pad...ultrasonic misters in the basin will also humidify the air...the powerful black fan on the lid will suck in air through the metal duct which will be mapped a high quality house air filter. The fan will push this filter air through the swamp cooler/humidifier and duct it into the grow chamber for clean air humidification control and basic temperature control/grade A air circulation!! Very cool...very cheap machine to build
