TIT for my bulk fruiting chamber (HELP)
    #24097192 - 02/17/17 09:56 AM (3 months, 6 days ago)

hey I have 12 pf jars that have nearly all colonised that I am incubating in a TIT set up with a fish tank heater/water. my temps are a steady 80° and I know I can lower them for fruiting, im planning on  using hpoo and straw to spawn my pf jars into. my question is would it be ok to just sterilise the top tub then dump my spawn and substrate straight into the top tub? Then just check on temps and once colonised mist and fan and cool it down in there?

i have seen people use TIT for fruiting chamber because of low temps but they always use separate tubs and then put them into the TIT. I understand this is to avoid putting all your eggs in one basket but was just wondering if anyone had done what I am talking about with any success.

im just looking for a maximum space for yield. and with separate tubs im probably using about 60% max of the the space I have, where as if I just dump my spawned sub directly into the tub I get to use it all. thanks in advance.

80F is far to warm set it for 68-72F for colonization.

You can't sterilise a tub, nor do you need to do anything like that ever.

a tit as a fruiting chamber sounds horrific.

mine was a bacterial farm. nothing else. fruiting in that would be a nightmare.

I have an area about 4 x 6 in the basement and I just use a small ceramic heater. Less than $10. Played around with the settting till I got it to keep that area at 70 F steady and it's been going strong ever since.

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/5437993

heres an example. but what I was asking was if I could just use the whole tub as apposed to having to use a small separate smaller tub which would minimise space.

aslo my jars have done fine at 80 but from reading around everyone has there preferred temps I just chose 80 .

the room am using is large and it just seems wasteful heating the whole room (it's v cold btw 50-60°)

if I have to I will heat the room and just have mono tub but im trying to avoid it. but id probably go martha if I need to heat the whole room so I don't feel like im wasting energy if you get me.

Wasting energy? I use a 600w radiator on 2-3 on the dial it's like 4 dollars a month to heat two rooms or around 300 sq ft of area that's normally in the 50s. So it's a waste not to do it the right way

you choose 80 but the substrate makes its own heat. so its more like 85-86. colonizing times
fall off after 79-81f. RR mentioned that somewhere.

lower-mid 70s is ideal.

that tek is 10yrs old posted by some random guy. he worked hard on it but its totally unnecessary.
look at the most current postings by people handing out the best advice with killer grows to back
up the claims. none of them use incubators unless is fucking freezing. ive fruited cubes at 60f.
they were just small. but meaty.

its best to heat the room. not the container they are placed in. colonizing or fruiting.
adding heat is a huge noob failure roadblock. trust me.

ok well cool this is why I asked the question before I did it just to check. I appreciate your input an having took on board the advise I have have decided to heat my room.

probably just a mono tub this time as am cutting it short on time as my jars have been fully colonised for 2 days now.

aslo how long could I leave the jars fully colonised before they dried out/die. thanks again

you want a pf cake to sit for about a week anyway once its 100%.

the name of the game is use things right away. the longer you delay the more results can suffer.

ive fruited off really old spawn but id never recommend or tell anyone to do it.

What is the average room temp where you are keeping your jars?

the jars are in a tit at 76° now.

the room itself is 58° so a small heater should bump it up.

Hey I  lowered my temps like u said. And now I have 1 or 2 mushrooms growing in my pf jars. I have raised the temps again to try and stop the fruiting, will I still be able to use those jars as spawn for my bulk?

76 F is too high too. Setting the TIT to 65 would be perfect in my book, maybe 68 (nside the jars is a couple degrees warmer. So setting it at 5
68, they would be about 70F).

Raising the temps will speed things up...  You lower the temps to slow fruiting dude.

Are your jars fully colonized and pinning? If that is the case, birth them.

If they are not fully colonized and pinning, and you used proper jars, then they are most likely infected with something, usually bacteria.
