Sealing an aqarium
    #2408726 - 03/08/04 09:51 PM (13 years, 5 months ago)

I am planning on using an aqaurium for a terranium i was wondering what is a good way to do this? I was thinking using plexiglass but the local hardware store doesn't carry any and i'm a college student without a car and have no way of getting any place but town. I was wondering if anyone has any other creative methods to seal an aquarium. I wasthinking about using a garbage bag, good idea bad idea? Any other ideas are welcome, i'm kind of desperate right now and i don't want to do the poor mans terranium in less its my last hope.

Plate glass would probable be cheaper, cut it to hang about 1/4 inch over the outside and insert foam weather stripping, sticky side up in the channel around the inside of the lip, set the glass on top and you have made it non-slip and still easy to remove...

You should make one like the one in the PF TEK I think it was, with the plastic sheeting and strips of wood... Very easy to make, and very cheap to buy all the materials (a foaf spent $12.58 at home depot for all the materials, but it can be done cheaper... he just went all out)

ummm...sorry for missing that whole part, i still don't know how i didn't read that. But heres another question thats somewhat similar. Would using cardboard wraped in saran wrap or in aluminum foil work as the spray shield because my local hardware store doesn't carry plexi glass or regular glass (they really shouldn't be called a hardware store). Anyone every try this before?

Theres this new stickey cling wrap type material bieng advertised on TV. Press and seal or something like that??

My friend uses it and it makes a tight seal...

On the other hand I fashioned one with wood frame and saran wrap like the PF tek, and i like it.
