Agrocybe Aegerita or Cob Web 1

I started these 2 grain jars from an LC I made up from a culture syringe I purchased. This is my first time working with Black Poplar. Before I get too much further with these jars I could use some opinions. I am having a hard time differentiating between Black Poplar Myc and Cob Web Type mold in these jars. I have read about the myc and its cottony appearance and have even done some agar cultures with this strain but this is my first LC with it. I would really appreciate some opinions on what this is.

Not on grain yet but have some on an agar plate. But the color looks off to me.

I've done agar to grain. Looks a little questionable. Shake it up and see the bounce back.

I shouldn't let it colonize a bit more than shake? My perception of this species is that the myc is web like and can be confused with cob web type molds easily. But I have colonized cob web on many occasion and this has me worried.
I have a couple agar transfers to grain and they look like this but thinker. Hell, maybe I screw the pooch on the whole damn lot of um!

If it super explode after its mold if it a recovery than your good. It doesn't look like it is calling bloody marry. For me LC looks questionable when first growing. The first set the jar on the right looks bad but in the second set they both look OK. So I'm saying qutionqble

I agree, they look perfectly fine to me.
The right jar in the first pic looks a little greenish, but I'm guessing that's just a reflection or something in the photo. If it really was green, I'm sure you wouldn't be asking us if it was ok

Ooooooh, ok - on further inspection that does look like it could be a reflection.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. Looking at Cube Myc kinda trains your intuition against whispy, cottony wood myc. I shook them up on sat. I will check tonight and let you know what they look like.

They should be good. If it was mold you would have gotten an explosion of growth.
Aegerita doesn't really get a solid white untill fully colonized most of the time and working with LCs your growth tends to start off weaker but has more surface area for faster colonization times.

That would explain the greyish appearance. My agar transfers to grain were a bit whiter, but that was because they were thicker. I will post some picks tonight if things look off.

OK, here is the result after shaking the jars up on Saturday. I don't think I would call it an explosion, but it has definitely been recovering fast. I always have uncertainty with a new myc I'm working with. Especially when it is whispy, greyish and threadlike. Any opinions on this? I think it looks good, but I will default to anyone with experience colonizing Agrocybe Aegerita grain jars.

Thank You! This also means the LC's I made are not contaminated, well, not apparently contaminated.

I'll make note of that. I just have to figure out how to fruit my wood blocks. last summer I did a gaggle of shiitake blocks which wound up ruined. I put them outside and the hot temps kill um. I have SGFC. But that, I don't think will be successful. I am considering a Martha Closet, but again not sure if the time investment is worth the results. Any ideas would be helpful.
