Are you 100% positive coir+Verm does not require pasteurization I've read about 3 treks saying to do so. If your method is true all I need to do is hydrate it correct?

Pasteurization is not needed unless you add manure or straw to your coir/verm from my understanding...

Just wanted to say thanks for this, I went shopping for supplies on the weekend and ended up with everything I needed to try this. You can only get coir in bags where I live, but it's the exact same stuff as the bricks, just pre-expanded. I threw in a little handful of crushed oyster shell too because... well, that just seems to make everything better.
I had maybe a little less than a pint of grain spawn left over from some grain transfers I did last night, and I don't have any more grain sterilized, so I just made a tiny little tub using that and maybe a quart of this substrate. Looks like enough once I mixed it together. We'll see what happens!
I ended up PCing it solely because that's actually easier for me than boiling a shitload of water. Didn't seem to ruin anything.

I kept these ESS tubs around just to show how hard it is to contaminate coir substrates

Spawned on 1/12/17 First pins 1/24/17 Harvested first flush 2/2/17
Pictured 3/6/17
On the 5/6th flush
53-54 days old. shrunk, covered in spores, torn up, chunks missing, and no mold anywhere
Bad spawn fucks tubs.

What ratio would you suggest for 3 quart jars?

1:4-1:1 is good for cubes So 3q spawn to 3-12q substrate

So if you follow these steps- your then able to inoculate that whole substrate for bulk grows then transfer this to a FC once colonized? Put casing layer on and boom!? If so I'm excited to try this in the future. It's a little confusing on what to do with this teqnique once its pasteurized and hot.

You don't need a casing layer if your Just gunna grow cubes Let it cool to roomtemp before spawning to it And yeah...boomers!

So bod once your coir is inoculated and you lay them in tub with no casing ext. do you use normal procedures such as fanning and misting so it doesn't dry out? I plan to be doing this in the next couple weeks sorry to bug you with questions.

Click on my signature then find the monotub teks that should help
Spawn gets mixed with substrate then info your tray or fruiting chamber. It colonizes then fruits.
And like said above no casing layer needed. They may help but I try to avoid them unless I'm having trouble with something stubborn

Are there any situations that warrant, or at least would be helped a lot by casing in the case (lol) of cubes?
