I think he want's a culture but you can't legally buy active ones depending on where you are. You have to make your own starting with spores.

No, seperate species have seperate spores, you're looking for psilocybe cubensis spores ideally.
"Spawn" is a generic term for something nutritious (grains, sawdust, wood chippings, different food for different species) the mycelium has colonised and consumed. Spawn must be sterilised and then have "inoculant" added to it (spores or colonised agar wedges are easiest) in a "Still Air Box" (search it up on the forum) to prevent rival species from eating the spawn instead (contamination).
We then put the fully colonised spawn in "substrate" (coir is a substrate) to help it hold more water and give us bigger and better fruits.

No oyster mushrooms are oyster mushrooms. They sell them in stores. Theres absolutely nothing psychoactive about oyster mushrooms.

Assuming I wanna use 4 quarts of CVG, what's a ballpark measurement of the amount of dry coir, verm + water I'll need? Just coir and water will suffice if you don't have CVG numbers.

Hey Bod, total newbie here. Seems like you have tons of great info. Totally new to Mycology and im trying to figure out a method that will work best for my schedule as I'm gone a few days a week for work. So the monotub seems to be the tek for me. So I'm essentially mimicing your work. My questions are, 1) you mentioned you could do without the verm and gypsum in your coir. Would those 2 things provide any type of help or buffer for someone totally new to this? 2) if so, what ratio of coir to verm to gypsum?

Gypsum can help your grains not stick but you should prepare then correctly anyway. Use a spoonful per jar of grain or a handful or two per brick of coir. By all means use it if you want it wont hurt and can only help.

I had a couple shoeboxes trich out on me, and am debating whether to go Proper Pasteurization or pour over the details and minutia of your tek again? My question is, do you yourself (Bodhisatta) still adhere to your "Bodded" Bucket Tek or do you use Pasteurization? Thanks again. Either way, I've had more success than not with this Tek, so I know it's me. I'm just wondering if maybe there would be less margin for error (on my part) in the other one?

I still do it this way. There's no reason to pasteurize coir, but it does like heat treatment.

Well.... I guess I'll try again and I'll pick up one of those thermometers from Wally World on my way home. They have 'em for 15.99. Then just follow (slowly) The steps closely and carefully. Thanks again.

I was under the impression that you don't want the coir getting hotter than 170 degrees for longer than ten min. I do have a"candy" thermometer and a meat one. So, is safe to assume from your reply that I could use one of those and just boil till 165-170 and then pour into cooler? Better yet, you don't have to answer, and I'll just follow the Tek to the capital letter and go from there. That's what I really need to focus on. The nuances, techniques, and time you put in should be more than enough to guide me. Thanks for this and now I feel bad asking questions thinking about the effort you already put into this Tek. Thanks again
