I just went through to read the steps again. How did I not notice the last few times I read this TEK that I bought the same cooler you have BOD. I got it at my local lot store on sale for 40 bucks and bought it because it had wheels and I could roll it home. My cooler was too big so I stuck a 27 quart bin inside the cooler and now it's perfect for a small batch.

Coir, gypsum and verm mix ready for action when I get home from the Dr. Woot! Also why does coir smell like lysol?

New to the community. Have just been lurking for a few months. Was looking for a good tek i could try while I'm without a PC. Just started this today, will post in coming weeks with my process and results for others to learn from (and to be more involved here) Thanks for the Tek, Bod

It does smell different the first time you smell and prep it. I enjoy the smell of coir now haha

I don't hate the smell. Anything that remind me of something that sanitizes is comforting in this hobby. It was just unexpected based on every other product I've ever used involving coconut.

I did the bucket tek and pasturized my quart of worm castings separately and so far it's worked out. Waited till the worm castings were a bit over 130f then turned off the heat and put on the pressure cooker lid and left it overnight. Mixed it in the coir and no issues so far. This Coast of Maine company seems to make very nice and pure castings. You really do get what you pay for.
