Thanks for all your videos and easy asf teks..... hopefully they steer me in the right direction. I was skeptical about using a gallon for a brick but it seems to be the right amount when i stirred it an hour after dropping in the boiling water. Took a peak recently and doesnt seem damp. The brick i used on this particular run is 680 grams which is the avg for the botanicare brand (the box of 6 i bought anyways). again thanks, appreciate the knowledge

Would it still be successful if a person used a PF tek cake? (Made from brown rice flour.) And if so, what about using two cakes (that are contam free) but never gave a flush or mushrooms?

What do you mean? Cakes won't work in a bucket. If you mean using them as spawn many people use cakes as spawn I don't suggest it i say use cakes as cakes

I plan on fruiting some cakes right out of the jar with a plastic baggy over them. Fuck making a sgfc for a few cakes here and there. I'm sure Bod can link you to something he's done similar.

Bod, I saw earlier you said a 4:1-1:1 ratio of sub to spawn... I was curious as to the advantage/disadvantage of either ratio. Is there any perks to having a high sub to spawn ratio or a low sub to spawn ratio, or does it not matter?

What works for you.
I usually do 4-5 quarts to a brick of coir
That works for me.

Instead of using an insulated cooler can I use a paint bucket?

5 gallon bucket is what you want if you can't get a cooler. I had an extra laying around so I wrapped it with some foam insulation and tapped a blanket to it. Works fine.

question though, i have followed the field capacity guide, there must be some drops of water dripping when squeezed.
after i placed the coir in monotub, it "looks" dry. is this supposed to happen?

Yes that's the Damion5050 tek one of the first links in my tek
Or just you know insulate a plain bucket with a blanket and meet somewhere in the middle.

Hi, its been 2 days since i mixed my spawn with coir, not sure if my coir is too dry or something else.
There is condensation on the side walls of the tub. I can't take a proper pic from outside the tub because of this.
I am using these both of your teks:

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22337800
I have exactly the same tub as you have, 54qt.
If you want, i can open the tub and take a pic of the coir and spawn in it.

How long does it typically take for the substrate to be ready for fruiting? My spawn took about 3 weeks and I ended up adding them a little early -before come solid white, but mostly white (Arcadian coast seems to be slow on the mycelium growth), it's been two days so far and the mycelium seems to be taking to the coir.

Also, is there a certain depth that the substrate needs to be? I used a 30 qt tub (shoebox) and I went about four and half finngers deep with the substrate and spawn. It seems like an adequate amount of depth -to provide sufficient media for germination and enough air room for growth.

Any depth1" to 6" works Substrate should not take more than 10 days from addition of spawn to be ready to fruit

Ok i just looked closely into the spawn, the myc is slowly moving towards the coir, not a huge jump but maybe like 1cm growth.
So for now i didn't open the tub.
Another question, is it okay to mist while the myc is mixing up with coir?

So I made mine a little wet I do believe so I added a couple quarts of vermiculite from the bag. Should it be slightly lighter in color at field capacity? Or should it still keep that darker black color? Unfortunately I've been ringing it out fist by fitful into my tubs. I squeeze it as hard as I can until it stops dripping. That's all i can do with this batch besides add a shit ton of verm to soak it up right?
