If so I'm excited to try this in the future. It's a little confusing on what to do with this teqnique once its pasteurized and hot.
Click on my signature then find the monotub teks that should help
Spawn gets mixed with substrate then info your tray or fruiting chamber. It colonizes then fruits.
And like said above no casing layer needed. They may help but I try to avoid them unless I'm having trouble with something stubborn
Are there any situations that warrant, or at least would be helped a lot by casing in the case (lol) of cubes?

That's cool then, cheers!

Gave this a go and moisture content was spot on (I used a little bit of verm)
Very cool.

No, seperate species have seperate spores, you're looking for psilocybe cubensis spores ideally.
"Spawn" is a generic term for something nutritious (grains, sawdust, wood chippings, different food for different species) the mycelium has colonised and consumed. Spawn must be sterilised and then have "inoculant" added to it (spores or colonised agar wedges are easiest) in a "Still Air Box" (search it up on the forum) to prevent rival species from eating the spawn instead (contamination).
We then put the fully colonised spawn in "substrate" (coir is a substrate) to help it hold more water and give us bigger and better fruits.

Assuming I wanna use 4 quarts of CVG, what's a ballpark measurement of the amount of dry coir, verm + water I'll need? Just coir and water will suffice if you don't have CVG numbers.
