The plants are now 2 weeks into flower and we have fertilized once so far. They all seem to be doing just fine and there is barely any leaf curling or discoloration of any type. We started with 8 plants, 2 died and 2 were males. Sadly the 2 males were the unknown nuggets, but the remaining 4 plants are all from bomb midgrade bagseed. We have 1 large plant that has been topped then 3 smaller ones, as you can see the topped plant is developing bud sites like crazy. I only took pictures of 3 of the plants by the way, peace.

The plants are now 3 weeks into flower, I just wanted to show how much more the buds have developed in only a week. They all seem to be doing just fine in their enviroment, the next pics will be in a while when there is some hardcore buds...peace.

General Reply I have a ? on growing. I have a 175 watt Mercury Vapor light, which I know can be replaced with a $30 175W Metal Hallide for vegetative growth. I also have 4 compact fluoros (30w very warm(red)). I would eventually want to use cool (blue) fluoros for seedling, MH for veg, and get a HPS for flowering. Right now my budget is quite limited, so I was wondering if the Mercury light would be usable. I know it's not the best, but I would like to wait to purchase a MH bulb. I was thinking I'd use the compact fluoros for veg growth then use the Mercury vapor for flowering. Or should I just have all the lights on throughout the growth cycle? These lights would be setup in an old dresser that I'm converting into a small one-plant grow chamber (175w MV is a bit overpowered, but I got a good deal on the ballast and bulb as a securtiy light). Would a few computer fans be enough to keep the lights cool? Should I set them all up as intakes with passive vents for outtake? I don't mean to jack your thread, just wanted a quick answer on if the Mercury Vapor is worth using. Nice plants .

As far as I know...you don't want to use MV's because they get really hot and don't put out as many lumens per watt as other lights. And if you are trying to keep heat out of your grow space make the intake passive and use a fan for the exhaust.

Thank you. I think I'll just spend the extra $ and get a MH bulb. How long do you think you will flower your plants for? Are you going by a set time period, or judging it by the look of your plants?

Well, they are all bagseed so I will probably just wait until I am satisfied with the looks of them, so far I am happy with the progress. But who knows...these plants could possibly even go two months flower.

Going on 5 weeks 3 days now and the buds are really starting to form, temps are hitting 90 which really sucks but theres not much we can do about it at this point. The way these plants are going I think they need another couple weeks before harvest. Enjoy the pictures!

Definitely keep those babies running for a couple/few more weeks. Buds will put out the most growth towards the end of their cycle so you should try to wait as long as possible.
Do yourself a favor and get a $2.50 jeweler's loupe (small magnifying glass) at least 20 to 30x magnification. Then use that to view the trichoms (resin) on the plant. Trichoms typically progress from translucent, to milky, to amber or red. The prime harvest time is in between the beginning of the milky stage and the beginning of the last amber or red stage depending on personal preference, as harvesting towards the later end can result in a more 'weighty' aka couchlock stone.
Nice plants

a good way to find out when to harvest is to watch the trichomes. first they will be clear at this stage they are not as potent and you will have less yield. then they turn more cloudy, if harvesting at this stage the bud will give them a more energic high. then they turn amber, at this point the buds will be more narcotic in the high. when they are 50/50 cloudy and amber, this is now you want to harvest them, the buds will now produce a more combined body\head high. just noticed geokills allready answered this anyways good job on them plants

The plants have only been fertilized 3 times throughout the whole growing process, we used an unknown synthentic fertilizer sample that came with my HPS. We also used superthrive two times for the transplants. I am buying some fish emulsion with kelp so I can fertilize a few more times before harvest. My next grow will be organics all the way for sure, and now I have some actual good strains to play around with.

Here are pictures of the 3 of the 4 plants picked and trimed, we got impatient and have already smoked the smallest plant (only an 8th), after drying it for only a few days. They look good for just being midgrade bagseed, and they get you realllll stoned! Enjoy the pics!

(Plant #3 minus a few bowls)
