And abundant window light works wonders on some clear tubs. That's the only way I've ever grown. But if you block out the light it doesn't do much

I've had this happen too.. we came to the conclusion that they do that when they grow very fast from smallish fruit body to mature.. it's almost like they are bombarded with water from the sub faster than the flesh of the cap can withstand.

great idea. i never wanted to use grounds because of the contam scare... i read like 2 in 5 people have larger probs compared to not using them.
is there a huge different between using coffee for tamps compared to cubes? or do all mush appreciate the nutes? does it honestly do that much anyways?

If sterilization was properly done coffee within the jars should be sterile for a while.
The high nitrogen count makes contams love it as well as mycelium.
It used to be a thing to put grounds in your sub which lead to alot of success and failure. Thus the scare of coffee
With that said I don't use coffee in my soaks or in my jars lol

I use coffee in my soaks. I haven't had a problem (yet).
Shout out to funkymonk22 for hooking me up with the beautifully packaged set of 2 Hispanica prints. Threw those babies on agar just a little bit ago.

I have also noticed a genetic component. My wikidzon clone will do that a lot regardless of sub or fruiting chamber.

Hey guys,
I have completed my first flush with my mini mono and I'm quite happy
294g (10oz) which will be about 25g dry (0,88oz). I think that is ok.
I just had about 1,3qt of spawn in a 1:2 CVG ratio so that is an acceptable weight for the first flush I think. Especially because the mushrooms are very meaty and heavy
I want to thank all of you for your help! Especially enlightenment, bodhi, pasty, comebackkid and mushboy for the generous help from my first agar steps to my first mono fruiting

I decided to harvest all the mushrooms at once and not to twist and pull but to cut thm with a knife. It's my first time so the result is not that good looking, but I hope I will get a second flush without any contamn

I have given the mono a very heavy mist now and put it back into fruiting conditions, let's see if I'll see a good second flush soon.
Regards

Thanks mate, means a lot to me to hear that from you
As you are around here anyway: Do you think a heavy mist is enough? The sub wasn't dry or something so I thought dunking it is not necessary!

Thank you fahtster. It was a hard fight I started with spore print from a B+ grow I took myself that didn't want to fruit in 3 mono tubs ... but now with this mazatapec clone it worked well

Some lovely chocolaty caps you got there AL! Looks like your picked em all at the perfect time too. Nice tub man!
Edit: A heavy mist should do the trick ime. You should see a decent second flush too I think

Thanks man.
Yeah, I think so too. I have misted the whole surface a lot which should be enough. The sub wasn't dry anyway so I think a dunk wasn't necessary.
Now I just hope that those stems that stayed inside the tub and some tiny pins I wasn't able to harvest without damaging the sub won't rot or cause any contamns!
keep the fingers crossed for me

Fine, thank you! I hope for a nice second flush, maybe some 100g wet would be nice!

Stems and aborts revert back to mycelium. Kinda like how clone tissue grows out on a petri. Contam resistant

My Mono now, the caps were opened early(think genetics), so its a bit difficult to find the right moment for hravest. I've noticed that they open their caps early a bit and stagnate at this point for days while growing, later they open their caps more. Do u think thats a good indicator top harvest, if they start to open more?

In my opinion I would harvest them either now or then when the next big one starts to open it's Cap.
Don't waste more energy in this flush, the next flush will be better:)
Your yield is ok for a MS Tub btw

This is my best cluster from random genetics, fine for the first success
