Political Music Thread 2

I thought it might be fun to have a thread dedicated to music with a political theme or subtext in this sub. Any genre or era or whatever, it just has to have a political message. If the message is particularly subtle, a few hints might be a good idea for the rest of us. I'll start.

Not really a music video, more of a video with music. Politically themed.

Neocon Song by Dr. E. Michael Jones
(Song starts at 1:45)
-------------------- Favorite entheogen experiences in descending order: 1)Combo of oral DMT + smoked Bufotenine 2)Amanita (urine drank twice) 3)Mushrooms > Achuma 16"+cid(still need higher dose Achuma)> Cid (still need high dose) 4)Morning Glory-HBWR (+cumin, cinnamon aldehyde adducts) > Methyl chavicol (need more activators) 5)Salvia (need to try quid)
All readable matter in the above post is ficticious... any similarities to real life are purely coincidental. Blessing.

a new political song.
Election Year by Lionize
High on the streets of D.C. An old man said to me, "we all got microchips in our heads, can't you feel the frequency?" It's been a long time, a long time coming (been a long time coming) We're gonna get what we deserve (gonna get mine) I feel the end times coming on strong (end is coming) Will we transcend this world?
Can't you feel it in the air again? Don't trust the government, it's a pack of lies It's just a fantasy about liberty, keeping you in line
I gave him my last dollar, the old man laughed at me They keep the real spaceships underground, deep inside the agency It's been a long time (been a long time coming) They're gonna get what they deserve (Gonna get what they deserve) I feel you, you feel, we feel the end times coming on strong (end is coming) Will we transend this world?
There goes the same black car again Don't trust the government, it's a pack of lies It's just a fantasy about liberty, keeping you in line
(x2) You can feel it (x3) in the air tonight
Spend some time on covert operations You will find the magic of disinformation I don't trust the government, it's a pack of lies It's just a fantasy about liberty, keeping you in line We don't trust the government, politics, politics, that's a lie Just a fantasy about liberty, keeping you in line

Who is singing in 'Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie", it doesn't sound like Henry Rollins, it sounds like a Brit.

After some research, I have determined it must be Keith Morris.
This is the Rollins Version I think

ha, i was coming here to reply again. i didn't even notice that i posted this alternate version earlier ITT and didn't listen to it when i answered your question yesterday. i assumed it was the version as heard on Damaged.
so last night i thought "how did someone think that was a brit sounding accent" and it was bothering me to no end. then i got sidetracked and didn't listen to what i had previously posted until this morning before work...i immediately knew that i had pitched you a red herring. that's definitely NOT the Damaged version, nay, it's the version as heard on the Everything Went Black compilation record.
100% chance the version i posted was Morris, you're absolutely right! on the following vid you can hear all three versions of Gimme not sung by Rollins; the ones by Morris, Cadena, & Reyes. Morris's version is the very first tune on the record.

How about a little ragga metal? Maybe not too political, but culturally diverse.

10 easy steps to create an enemy and start a war:
Listen closely because we will all see this weapon used in our lives. It can be used on a society of the most ignorant to the most highly educated. We need to see their tactics as a weapon against humanity and not as truth.
THIS IS HOW TO CREATE AN ENEMY. THIS IS HOW TO START A WAR. THIS IS HOW TO CREATE AN ENEMY.
First step: Create the enemy. Sometimes this will be done for you.
Second step: Be sure the enemy that you have chosen is nothing like you. Find obvious differences like race, language, religion, dietary habits, fashion. Emphasize that their soldiers are not doing a job, they are heartless murderers who enjoy killing!
Third step: Once these differences are established continue to reinforce them with all disseminated information.
Fourth step: Have the media broadcast only the ruling party's information; this can be done through state run media. Remember, in times of conflict all for-profit media repeats the ruling party's information. Therefore all for-profit media becomes state-run.
Fifth step: Show this enemy in actions that seem strange, militant, or different. Always portray the enemy as non-human, evil, a killing machine.
Sixth step: Eliminate opposition to the ruling party. Create an "Us versus Them" mentality. Leave no room for opinions in between. One that does not support all actions of the ruling party should be considered a traitor.
Seventh step: Use nationalistic and/or religious symbols and rhetoric to define all actions. This can be achieved by slogans such as "freedom loving people versus those who hate freedom." This can also be achieved by the use of flags.
Eighth step: Align all actions with the dominant deity. It is very effective to use terms like, "It is god's will" or "god bless our nation."
Ninth step: Design propaganda to show that your soldiers have feelings, hopes, families, and loved ones. Make it clear that your soldiers are doing a duty; they do not want or like to kill.
Tenth step: Create an atmosphere of fear, and instability and then offer the ruling party as the only solutions to comfort the public's fears. Remembering the fear of the unknown is always the strongest fear.

Not sure if this has been posted, but this is a classic.
Phil Ochs - Love me, I'm a liberal
I cried when they shot Medgar Evers Tears ran down my spine I cried when they shot Mr. Kennedy As though I'd lost a father of mine
But Malcolm X got what was coming He got what he asked for this time So love me, love me Love me, I'm a liberal
I go to civil rights rallies And I put down the old D.A.R. I love Harry and Sidney and Sammy I hope every colored boy becomes a star
But don't talk about revolution That's going a little bit too far So love me, love me Love me, I'm a liberal
I cheered when Humphrey was chosen My faith in the system restored And I'm glad the commies were thrown out Of the A.F.L. C.I.O. board
I love Puerto Ricans and Negros As long as they don't move next door So love me, love me Love me, I'm a liberal
The people of old Mississippi Should all hang their heads in shame I can't understand how their minds work What's the matter don't they watch Les Crain?
But if you ask me to bus my children I hope the cops take down your name So love me, love me Love me, I'm a liberal
Yes, I read New republic and Nation I've learned to take every view You know, I've memorized Lerner and Golden I feel like I'm almost a Jew
But when it comes to times like Korea There's no one more red, white and blue So love me, love me Love me, I'm a liberal
I vote for the democratic party They want the U.N. to be strong I attend all the Pete Seeger concerts He sure gets me singing those songs
And I'll send all the money you ask for But don't ask me to come on along So love me, love me Love me, I'm a liberal
Sure once I was young and impulsive I wore every conceivable pin Even went to the socialist meetings Learned all the old union hymns
Ah, but I've grown older and wiser And that's why I'm turning you in So love me, love me Love me, I'm a liberal

When the union's inspiration through the workers' blood shall run, There can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun; Yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one, But the union makes us strong.
Chorus: Solidarity forever, Solidarity forever, Solidarity forever, For the union makes us strong.
Is there aught we hold in common with the greedy parasite, Who would lash us into serfdom and would crush us with his might? Is there anything left to us but to organize and fight? For the union makes us strong.
Chorus
It is we who plowed the prairies; built the cities where they trade; Dug the mines and built the workshops, endless miles of railroad laid; Now we stand outcast and starving midst the wonders we have made; But the union makes us strong.
Chorus
All the world that's owned by idle drones is ours and ours alone. We have laid the wide foundations; built it skyward stone by stone. It is ours, not to slave in, but to master and to own. While the union makes us strong.
Chorus
They have taken untold millions that they never toiled to earn, But without our brain and muscle not a single wheel can turn. We can break their haughty power, gain our freedom when we learn That the union makes us strong.
Chorus
In our hands is placed a power greater than their hoarded gold, Greater than the might of armies, multiplied a thousand-fold. We can bring to birth a new world from the ashes of the old For the union makes us strong.

Here's a modern day rewrite: Solidarity Forever (Illegal Version)
When the bosses' sanguination through the city streets does run There can be no power greater than the barrel of a gun And when the bourgeoisie protests expropriate their tongue For the black bloc makes us strong
Solidarity forever
The fuck we got in common with the greedy parasite Who would kill a union activist to give their cola bite The pigs work for the bosses so get strapped in for a fight For the black bloc makes us strong
Solidarity forever
It's we who run the weapons plants and fight the wars they wage And who work consumer hotlines from the inside of a cage It's we who sweep the stock exchange where it's our lives they trade But the black bloc makes us strong
Solidarity forever
All the world that pigs patrol is ours and ours alone All their deeds have the authority of workers' crunching bone But when their city hall explodes, it's we who owned that drone For the black bloc makes us strong
Solidarity forever
Their dollars are our labor when we overwork they earn But without our brains and muscle there's no treatment for a burn No one to put out mansion fires where charring bodies turn While the black bloc makes us strong
Solidarity forever
They come pollute our neighborhoods and privatize the grass They exploit our race and gender to divide the working class Because they know united that we'd rise to kick their ass For the black bloc makes us strong
Solidarity forever
They racketeer, enslave and murder, gas us while we grieve They cut off our public services and raise rent till we leave But we'll burn every yogurt shop until the pigs believe That the black bloc makes us strong
Solidarity forever
If you protest a pay cut then you're fired on the spot Then they throw you in a jail cell if you sell all that you got So all sex workers take up arms and take the money shot For the black bloc makes us strong
Solidarity forever
We're told of all the progress that democracy has made But the myth of meritocracy don't match what we get paid There's no hope in a ballot box but on a barricade For the black bloc makes us strong
Solidarity forever
They tell us job security will come to us with time While our kin retire homeless at the age of 89 With theft and solidarity it's our assembly line For the black bloc makes us strong
Solidarity forever

Best of the best.
O say can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming, Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming? And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there; O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep, Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In full glory reflected now shines in the stream: 'Tis the star-spangled banner, O long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion, A home and a country, should leave us no more? Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave: And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave, O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
O thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand Between their loved homes and the war's desolation. Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the Heav'n rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: 'In God is our trust.' And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

I guess "O'er the land of the worlds highest incarceration rate and the home of the people who need to always possess guns to feel safe!" doesn't sound quite as good.

The song is way older than the incarceration stats. Its not to feel safe, its to protect against tyranny. (That worked well)

The late Mandawuy Yunupingu out front of Yothu Yindi
Quote:
"Treaty” was composed by Yothu Yindi in collaboration with Paul Kelly and Midnight Oil to protest against the failure of the Australian Government to honour the Prime Minister's promise to Indigenous Australians.
Dr M Yunupingu's comments about this song:
"This song was written after Bob Hawke, in his famous response to the Barunga Statement (1988), said there would be a Treaty between Indigenous Australians and the Australian Government by 1990. The intention of this song was to raise public awareness about this so that the government would be encouraged hold to his promise. The song became a number-one hit, the first ever to be sung in a Yolu language, and caught the public's imagination.

Dick Gaughan - World Turned Upside Down
In 1649 To St. George’s Hill, A ragged band they called the Diggers Came to show the people’s will They defied the landlords They defied the laws They were the dispossessed reclaiming what was theirs
We come in peace they said To dig and sow We come to work the lands in common And to make the waste land grow This earth divided We will make whole So it will be A common treasury for all
The sin of property We do disdain No man has any right to buy and sell The earth for private gain By theft and murder They took the land Now everywhere the walls Rise up at their command
They make the laws To chain us well The clergy dazzle us with heaven Or they damn us into hell We will not worship The God they serve The God of greed who feed the rich While poor man starve
We work we eat together We need no swords We will not bow to masters Or pay rent to the lords We are free men Though we are poor You Diggers all stand up for glory Stand up now
From the men of property The orders came They sent the hired men and troopers To wipe out the Diggers’ claim Tear down their cottages Destroy their corn They were dispersed Only the vision lingers on
You poor take courage You rich take care The earth was made a common treasury For everyone to share All things in common All people one We come in peace The orders came to cut them down
__________________________________________
"The first man who, having enclosed a piece of ground, bethought himself of saying 'This is mine,' and found people simple enough to believe him, was the real founder of civil society. From how many crimes, wars, and murders, from how many horrors and misfortunes might not any one have saved mankind, by pulling up the stakes, or filling up the ditch, and crying to his fellows: Beware of listening to this impostor; you are undone if you once forget that the fruits of the earth belong to us all, and the earth itself to nobody."

one click will show the song title without using any very little data. Woody Guthrie on Page 2 is the winner imo or if the North Korean anthem is more your style it's here as well

Bad Religion - American Jesus
Quote:
[Verse 1] I don't need to be a global citizen Because I'm blessed by nationality I'm a member of a growing populace We enforce our popularity
[Pre-Chorus] There are things that seem to pull us under and There are things that drag us down But there's a power and a vital presence That's lurking all around
[Chorus] We've got the American Jesus See him on the interstate We've got the American Jesus He helped build the president's estate
[Verse 2] I feel sorry for the earth's population 'Cause so few live in the U.S.A At least the foreigners can copy our morality They can visit but they cannot stay
[Pre-Chorus] Only precious few can garner the prosperity It makes us walk with renewed confidence We've got a place to go when we die And the architect resides right here
[Chorus] We've got the American Jesus Bolstering national faith We've got the American Jesus Overwhelming millions every day
[Instrumental]
[Bridge] He's the farmer's barren fields (In God) The force the army wields (We trust) The expression on the faces of the starving millions (Because he's one of us)
The power of the man (Breakdown) He's the fuel that drives the Klan (Cave in) He's the motive and conscience of the murderer (He can redeem your sin)
He's the preacher on T.V (Strong heart) The false sincerity (Clear mind) The form letter that's written by the big computers (And infinitely kind)
The nuclear bombs (You lose) The kids with no moms (We win) And I'm fearful that he's inside me (He is our champion)
[Chorus] Yeah, we've got the American Jesus See him on the interstate (We've got the American Jesus) We've got the American Jesus Exercising his authority
We've got the American Jesus Bolstering national faith We've got the American Jesus Overwhelming millions every day
[Outro] (One nation under God) (One nation under God) (One nation under God) (One nation under God) (One nation under God) (One nation under God) (One nation under God) (One nation under God) (One nation under God) (One nation under God)

Against Me! - Baby, I'm An Anarchist!
Quote:
[Verse 1] Through the best of times Through the worst of times Through Nixon and through Bush Do you remember '36? We went our separate ways You fought for Stalin I fought for freedom You believe in authority I believe in myself I'm a Molotov Cocktail You're Dom Perignon Baby, what's that confused look in your eyes? What I'm trying to say is that I burn down buildings While you sit on a shelf inside of them You call the cops on the looters and pie-throwers They call it class war I call it co-conspirators
[Hook] 'Cause baby, I'm an Anarchist You're a spineless Liberal We marched together for the eight-hour day And held hands in the streets of Seattle But when it came time to throw bricks Through that Starbucks window You left me all alone (all alone…)
[Verse 2] You watched in awe At the Red, White, and Blue On the Fourth of July While those fireworks were exploding I was burning that fucker And stringing my Black Flag high Eating the peanuts That the Parties have tossed you In the backseat of your father's new Ford You believe in the ballot You believe in reform You have faith in the Elephant and Jackass And to you solidarity is a four-letter word We're all hypocrites But you're a patriot You thought I was only joking When I screamed out "Kill Whitey!" At the top of my lungs At the cops in their cars And the men in their suits No, I won't take your hand And marry the State
[Hook] 'Cause baby, I'm an Anarchist And you're a spineless Liberal We marched together for the eight-hour day And held hands in the streets of Seattle But when it came time to throw bricks Through that Starbucks window You left me all alone (all alone…)

Zack De La Rocha, KRS-One & The Last Emperor - C.I.A. (Criminals In Action)
Quote:
[Verse 1: Zack de la Rocha] This voice shatters the calm of the day, like an alarm To wake up bright anew, and take up arms Cause more is necessary than vocabulary war Cause the toxic rock imports, gettin' on your door C.I.A. I see ya later, cause your time is coming soon I flip the shit like Pacino and it's your Dog Day Afternoon Attica Attica, drug agents you bring your static-a My alphabet will slash that neck and flip you, automatica' Dramatic like Ali Shaheed Muhammed brought the vibe I bring the sun at Red Dawn upon the thoughts of Frantz Fanon So stand at attention, devil dirge You'll never survive choosin' sides against the wretched of the Earth The infiltrator, tribe intoxicator, people incarcerator Liberation movement annihilator We got you clocked pushing rocks and it fail We got brothers trooping subways like the Ho Chi Minh trail We got the truth daddy, Last Emperor, KRS and History manifested, tomorrow next lesson
[Hook: all together, with samples] YOU CLAIM I'M SELLING CRACK, BUT YOU BE DOIN' THAT [KRS-1] You, claim, you claim, you, you claim, claim You claim I'm selling crack but you be doin' that [Zach] You know the cops they got a network for the toxic rock YOU CLAIM I'M SELLING CRACK, BUT YOU BE DOIN' THAT [Big L] So get that flashlight out of my face [KRS-1] You, you, you claim I'm selling crack but you be doin' that The Last Emperor, KRS-One, and Big Zack
[Verse 2: The Last Emperor] As free market capitalism and technology expands The third world's fertile soil becomes a desert wasteland So it takes bands to, demand the, government provide answers When Lady Liberty has me Bewitched like Samantha And poverty is one of the most malignant forms of cancer To all my Black Magic romancers and acid rain dancers Develop close ties like Jerry Seinfeld and George Costanza We fear no man and throw jams That attack counterintelligence programs Exciting like the epic adventures of Conan (hah!) I colonize minds like Zaire by the Belgians Now what the hell is the problem with this system and what it sells us I bring ancient relics like Wyclef did to Zealots I saw an Iron Curtain called hip-hop and got it open like Boris Yeltsin Whirlwind, tornadoes, in the rain forest if you say so (whosssshhh) KRS and The Last Emperor like the Green Hornet and Kato Zach de la Rocha brings the enraged flow, but all three drop science And become the most powerful alliance since NATO
[Hook: all together, with samples] YOU CLAIM I'M SELLING CRACK, BUT YOU BE DOIN' THAT [KRS-1] You claim I'm selling crack but you be doin' that YOU CLAIM I'M SELLING CRACK, BUT YOU BE DOIN' THAT [Zach] You know the cops they got a network for the toxic rock [KRS-1] You claim I'm selling crack but you be doin' that [Big L] So get that flashlight out of my face YOU CLAIM I'M SELLING CRACK, BUT YOU BE DOIN' THAT The Last Emperor, KRS-One, and Big Zack
[Verse 3: KRS-One] Need I say the C.I.A. be Criminals In Action Cocaine crack unpackin', high surveillance trackin' Prominant blacks and whites givin' orders for mass slaughters I want all my daughters to be like Maxine Waters When they flooded the streets with crack cocaine I was like Noah, now they lower cause the whole cold war is over Communism fell to the dollars you were grabbin' it All the assault and batterin' in the name of intelligence gatherin'? Now it's karma you battlin', a losin' fight I chose the mic to recite ignite light in the night, aight? We should beat em, President Clinton should delete em It's not hard, the C.I.A. simply has no more job Oh my Goddess, mother, you can fix this We rock over mixes not six six sixes Yo this is, the message, to all that can hear it If you got secret information now's the time to share it Call your Congresswoman, your senator, your mayor It's time for all the scholars to unite with all the players Rearrangin', see times are definitely changin' G They used to tap the phone, now they tapping while you paging me It's crazy B, yet it's plain to see, who the enemy Who's left the NRA, The ATF, the AMA Okay, okay, it's all irrelevant, cause in the new millennium There'll be no Central Intelligence
[Outro] Uh, yea, uh, yea Throw your hands up You know whassup kid, throw your hands up Ha hah yeah, hah hah, yeah

Quote:
Weapons, not food, not homes, not shoes Not need, just feed the war, cannibal animal I walk the corner to the rubble, that used to be a library Line up to the mind cemetery, now What we don't know keeps the contracts alive and movin' They don't gotta burn the books, they just remove 'em While arms warehouses fill as quick as the cells Rally round the family, pockets full of shells

Claypool Lennon Delirium -Ohmerica-
Oh...America Oh...America Oh...America
[Chorus] We know when you’re sleeping, and when you’re awake But if you’ve been good, you need not be afraid It’s best not to question, the things that you’re told ‘Cause we have got everything under con, under control
Just relax... Ain’t no evidence that can shake our beliefs And if you don’t like it, well you can just leave If you think George Washington evolved from an ape You should be locked up, in the 51st State
[Refrain] Oh...America
[Verse 2] As we’re multiplying, the world’s on the brink But that’s just what the Devil wants you to think Don’t ever stop shoppin’ don’t ever give in ‘Cause if we stop shoppin’ the terrorists win
[Chorus] We know when you’re sleeping, and when you’re awake But if you’ve been good, you need not be afraid It’s best not to question, the things that you’re told ‘Cause we have got everything under con, under control
[Bridge: Instrumental]
[Verse 3] We’re reading your mail, and tapping your phone And if you don’t like it, we’ll send in the drones Oh say can you see, the twilight’s last gleam The land of the free, the home of the naïve
[Chorus] Oh...America

Won't Get Fooled Again Pete Townshend
We'll be fighting in the streets With our children at our feet And the morals that they worship will be gone The men who spurred us on Sit in judgment of all wrong They decide and the shotgun sings the song I'll tip my hat to the new constitution Take a bow for the new revolution Smile and grin at the change all around Pick up my guitar and play Just like yesterday Then I'll get on my knees and pray We don't get fooled again
The change it had to come We knew it all along We were liberated from the fold that's all The world looks just the same And history ain't blamed Cause the banners, they are flown in the last war
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution Take a bow for the new revolution Smile and grin at the change all around Pick up my guitar and play Just like yesterday Then I'll get on my knees and pray We don't get fooled again No, no! We don't get fooled again
I'll move myself and my family aside If we happen to be left half alive Get all my papers and smile at the sky Though I know that the hypnotized never lie Do ya?
There's nothing in the street Looks any different to me And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye The parting on the left Is now parting on the right And the beards have all grown longer overnight
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution Take a bow for the new revolution Smile and grin at the change all around Pick up my guitar and play Just like yesterday Then I'll get on my knees and pray We don't get fooled again Don't want to get fooled again No, no!

Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards - Wine and Roses
Quote:
Bring on the days of wine and roses Riot squads and fire hoses (x2)
Two leaders try to speak but they don't make a sound Autocrats run but they don't move around Big money mergers but, does that move ya? X-Ray vision I see right through ya Do you remember when it was all bleak and black When the old man move forwards and he never look back But no one has a job no it's crime and torture Cocaine epidemic and steel vultures Stuck inside a fire that is a clearin Super power contenders no one is daring One super power left psychotic killer World wide assault ya it's a thriller You don't want to be the one who's got to go to jail If you're lucky I.M.F. will hook you up and you'll make bail
Bring on the days of wine and roses Riot squads and fire hoses (x2)
Bring on the days of wine and roses Riot squads and fire hoses (x2)
The menace of success oppress rebellion The men who play chess with the human weapons The rally of ideas is the question The city awaits total annihilation Living under the muzzle of a gun this is no holiday in the sun It's disturbing it's subversion "V" is not for victory but for the vacant homes
Bring on the days of wine and roses Riot squads and fire hoses (x2)
Nah nah nah nah nah nah....

Rage Against The Machine - Independent Media
Quote:
[Verse 1] Transmission, third World War, third round A decade of the weapon of sound above ground No shelter if you're looking for shade I lick shots at the brutal charade As the polls close like a casket, on truth devoured A silent play on the shadow of power A spectacle monopolized The camera's eyes on choice disguised Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil? Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil? Yes, a spectacle monopolized They hold the reins, stole your eyes All the Fistagons, the bullets, and bombs Who stuff the banks, who staff the party ranks More for Gore, or the son of a drug lord None of the above, fuck it, cut the cord!
[Chorus] Lights out, guerrilla radio! Turn that shit up! Lights out, guerrilla radio! Turn that shit up! Lights out, guerrilla radio! Turn that shit up! Lights out, guerrilla radio!
[Verse 2] Contact, I hijacked the frequencies Blockin' the beltway, move on DC! Way past the days of bombin' MCs' Sound off, Mumia go on be free! Who got 'em? Yo, check the federal file All you pendejos know the trial was vile An army of pigs try to silence my style Off 'em all out that box, it's my radio dial!
[Chorus] Lights out, guerrilla radio! Turn that shit up! Lights out, guerrilla radio! Turn that shit up! Lights out, guerrilla radio! Turn that shit up! Lights out, guerrilla radio! Turn that shit up!
[Bridge] It has to start somewhere It has to start sometime What better place than here? What better time than now?
[Outro] All hell can't stop us now All hell can't stop us now All hell can't stop us now All hell can't stop us now All hell can't stop us now All hell can't stop us now

I don't want to holiday in the sun I want to go to the new Belsen I want to see some history Cause now I got a reasonable economy Oh now I got a reason And I'm still waiting Now I got a reason To be waiting The Berlin wall In Sensurround sound in a two inch wall Well I was waiting for the communist call I didn't ask for sunshine And I got world war three I'm looking over the wall And they're looking at me Oh now I got a reason And I'm still waiting Now I got a reason To be waiting The Berlin wall They're staring all night And they're staring all day. I had no reason to be here at all. But now I got a reason if's no real reason And I'm waiting at Berlin wall I gotta go over the Berlin wall. I don't understand it Claustrophobia there's too much paranoia There's too many closets I went in before And now I got a reason It's no real reason to be waiting The Berlin wall I gotta go over the wall, I don't understand this bit at all Please don't be waiting for me.

Thanks for the video. And the lyrics. For 43 years I thought Johnny was saying, "Cause now I got a reason of the economy".

That's how I remember the late 70's, Thatcher's Britain and The Sex Pistols screaming there's no future. Epic guitar tone from Steve Jones too, one of the best I think.

Today I learned that the operator of the “Educating Liberals” twitter acct makes hardcore conservative rap music about alt right ideals. Somewhere out there in America, a 16 year old neck beard is blasting this while he calls you a “soyboy cuck” on the internet. He smiles contentedly to himself, pours his corpulent form out of his computer chair, and zips away on his heelies.

Pussy Riot - Make America Great Again
Quote:
What do you want your world to look like? What do you want it to be? Do you know that a wall has two sides? And nobody is free? Did your mama come from Mexico Papa come from Palestine Sneaking all through Syria Crossing all the border lines
Let other people in Listen to your women Stop killing black children Make America Great Again
Could you imagine a politician Calling a woman a dog? Do you wanna stay in the kitchen? Is that where you belong? How do you picture the perfect leader Who do you want him to be Has he promoted the use of torture and killing families
Let other people in Listen to your women Stop killing black children Make America Great Again

I also attack my side if I think they're wrong. People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

"pregnant" "orgy" that sounds pretty far away from my alley, unless you tell me there is an interview before the sex scenes but thanks for the insight
long as it was in an early enough trimester and none of the participants had anything communicable to the fetus more power to her
their recent "Hangerz" against anti-abortion bills that cause women to perform dangerous procedures on themselves is a pretty powerful track tho barring some of the issues where being non-native English speakers seem to trip up some of the lyrics but one of my favourite bands of late is Semblant from Brazil, and their lyrics similiarily occasionally get awkward
Hangerz

Against Me! - White People For Peace
Quote:
[Verse 1] East and West Could not agree So the Generals gave call Gathered troops at the border With guns at ready Drawn and aimed Each side was praying to a God To bless them with strength and courage
[Pre-Chorus] And it was in His name Artillery lit the sky on fire The people sang protest songs Try and stop the soldier's gun
[Chorus] Protest songs In response to military aggression Protest songs Try to stop the soldier's gun But the battle raged on
[Verse 2] Sirens filled the air And the ground shook with war Civilian casualties had been a cost That was predetermined When interviewed for report Victims plead in frustration Their claim — That this is a war without reason
[Pre-Chorus] And bureaucrats engaged in debate To try to reach a resolution The people sang protest songs Try and stop the soldier's gun
[Chorus] Protest songs In response to military aggression Protest songs Try to stop the soldier's gun Protest songs In response to military aggression Protest songs Try to stop the soldier's gun But the battle raged on
[Bridge] All the protests, like their prayers Went unanswered and ignored God, like the rest of the world, just watched in silence There was purpose to be served There was fortunes to be earned Before a peace could be called to stop the fighting
[Chorus] They sang protest songs In response to military aggression Protest songs Try and stop the soldier's gun Protest songs In response to military aggression Protest songs Try and stop the soldier's gun
[Outro] Protest songs In response to military aggression Protest songs Try and stop the soldier's gun Protest songs In response to military aggression Protest songs Try to stop the soldier's gun But the battle raged on

Against Me! - I Was A Teenage Anarchist
Quote:
[Verse 1] I was a teenage anarchist, looking for a revolution I had the style, I had the ambition I read all the authors, I knew the right slogans There was no war but the class war I was ready to set the world on fire I was a teenage anarchist, looking for a revolution
[Chorus] Do you remember when you were young and you wanted to set the world on fire?
[Verse 2] I was a teenage anarchist, but the politics were too convenient In the depths of their humanity all I saw was bloodless ideology And with freedom as the doctrine, guess who was the new authority? I was a teenage anarchist, but the politics were too convenient
[Chorus]
[Verse 3] I was a teenage anarchist, but then the scene got too rigid It was a mob mentality, they set their rifle sights on me Narrow visions of autonomy, you want me to surrender my identity I was a teenage anarchist, the revolution was a lie

Rosie & the Riveters - I Believe You
I believe you when they ask what did you wear I believe you when you say you were scared Please don’t forget you’re not alone I’ve been there, I believe you I believe you when you doubt what you saw I believe you when the night still feels raw Please don’t forget you’re not alone I’ve been there, I believe you
I believe you I believe you I believe you
I believe you there’s no need to explain I believe you when they slander your name Please don’t forget you’re not alone I’ve been there, I believe you
I believe you when the jury has failed I believe you, no, you’re not telling tales Stand for your truth, you’re not alone I’ve been there, I believe you

Anaïs Mitchell ft. Greg Brown - Why We Build the Wall
Written By Anaïs Mitchell Release Date March 9, 2010
Quote:
[HADES] Why do we build the wall, my children, my children? Why do we build the wall?
[ALL TOGETHER] Why do we build the wall? We build the wall to keep us free That’s why we build the wall We build the wall to keep us free
[HADES] How does the wall keep us free, my children, my children? How does the wall keep us free?
[ALL TOGETHER] How does the wall keep us free? The wall keeps out the enemy And we build the wall to keep us free That’s why we build the wall We build the wall to keep us free
[HADES] Who do we call the enemy, my children, my children? Who do we call the enemy?
[ALL TOGETHER] Who do we call the enemy? The enemy is poverty And the wall keeps out the enemy And we build the wall to keep us free That’s why we build the wall We build the wall to keep us free
[HADES] Because we have and they have not, my children, my children Because they want what we have got
[ALL TOGETHER] Because we have and they have not Because they want what we have got The enemy is poverty And the wall keeps out the enemy And we build the wall to keep us free That’s why we build the wall We build the wall to keep us free
[HADES] What do we have that they should want, my children, my children? What do we have that they should want?
[ALL TOGETHER] What do we have that they should want? We have a wall to work upon We have work and they have none And our work is never done My children, my children And the war is never won The enemy is poverty And the wall keeps out the enemy And we build the wall to keep us free That’s why we build the wall We build the wall to keep us free We build the wall to keep us free

Starin' at the boob tube, turnin' on the big knob Tryin' to find some life in the waste land Fin'ly found a program, gonna deal with Mary Jane Ready for a trip into Haight land Obnoxious Joe comes on the screen Along with his guest self-righteous Sam And one more guy who doesn't count His hair and clothes are too far out While pushin' back his glasses Sam is sayin' casually "I was elected by the masses" And with that in mind he starts to unwind A vicious attack on the finest of grasses Well it's evil, wicked, mean and nasty (Don't step on the grass, Sam) And it will ruin our fair country (Don't be such an ass, Sam) Well, it will hook your Sue and Johnny (You're so full of bull, Sam) All will pay that disagree with me (Please give up you already lost the fight, alright) Misinformation Sam and Joe Are feeding to the nation But the one who didn't count counted them out By exposing all their false quotations Faced by a very awkward situation This is all he'd say to save the day Well it's evil, wicked, mean and nasty (Don't step on the grass, Sam) And it will ruin our fair country (Don't be such an ass, Sam) It will hook your Sue and Johnny (You're so full of bull, Sam) All will pay that disagree with me (Please give up you already lost the fight alright) You waste my coin Sam, all you can To jail my fellow man For smoking all the noble weed You need much more than him You've been telling lies so long Some believe they're true So they close their eyes to things You have no right to do Just as soon as you are gone Hope will start to climb Please don't stay around too long You're wasting precious time Well it's evil, wicked, mean and nasty (Don't step on the grass, Sam) And it will ruin our fair country (Don't be such an ass, Sam) It will hook your Sue and Johnny (You're so full of bull, Sam) All will pay that disagree with me (Please give up you already lost the fight, alright)

Song is more relevant than ever:
-------------------- “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. Yeah a true artist, great writer, clever, provocative. She toured here last year I think. That pic of her with the gun across her pink bits... If I could just blow that up and put it on my lounge room wall...

This isn't political, but Eddie Van Halen died today at age 65 of throat cancer. I grew up on his music.

Midnight Oil... so many great songs.
I've been in the Blue Sky mine, and it was quite a few years before this song came out. When I was 20 I went around Aus. I had a friend from my apprenticeship working for Hammersley Iron at Mt Tom Price, which was one of the first big iron ores mines owned by Lang Hancock in Western Australia. I stayed with him for a couple weeks and we went to Wittenoom one day to check out what was left of the blue sky mine.. At that stage the town was a ghost town with only the pub inhabited. A couple years later the town was fully demolished, house by house. People with as little as 6 weeks work in that mine died of asbestosis. Housewives caught it as well, apparently from washing their husbands work clothes. We walked into a couple of test holes in the side of the main deposit and the asbestos really was as blue as the sky, blue fibrous rock. We didn't hang around too long but I wouldn't be surprised if I don't end up with asbestosis as I was exposed to it many times through contact with asbestos lagged pipes, asbestos fire lagged beams as well as cutting holes in asbestos sheet over the years. My uncle has it as asbestos was used here in the building industry in the 50's and 60's.

Lots of Cold War shit.
I was thinking yesterday about the Christmas break I spent riding the train across Eastern Europe, and being taken in by my friend’s family for Christmas dinner in Vienna and watching Gorbachev come on TV and announce the end of the Soviet Union. I can’t believe that was 29 years ago.

Whooo awesome, plenty of good ones!
I bought this album when it came out, with money from my first job packing groceries at the local supermarket after school, but never really understood the underlying story of the war in the Congo.
The footage is real, disgustingly graphic, and cut from the movie Africa Addio. I'm pretty sure that's Mad Mike Hoare at the the 3.32 minute mark.

lol I never picked you as a head banger Falcon
Are songs about smoking dope political?... of course they are! I been to court 12 times from 4 different raids, was court ordered to be psychically evaluated in the 80's, now THAT fucked with my head 100 times more than any bong hit. 3rd raid I'd had enough and pleaded not guilty. 8 appearances later had the biggest charge dropped and was eventually found guilty for minor possession - $400. We estimate it cost the cops 50 grand, at least... the Magistrates loved it, the cops weren't happy, hence raid number 4 a year after court... but I'm still smiling after beating those fuckers at their own game.

When he was found guilty Angry's wife went over and hugged him in the dock... brought tears to my eyes.
I heard he was still kicking and punching a lifeless body when the cops turned up
