agar and condensation
    #2405424 - 03/05/04 02:59 AM (13 years, 7 months ago)

hey all, sorry for posting what may be a stupid question, buti couldn't seem to find any info on this subject...i've done multiple agar dishes before, and i always end up with some condensation on at least a couple of them....i was wondering if there is anyway to avoid this.

i normally place my dishes in stacks of ten and pour from the bottom and go up...the bottom few usually don't have any condensation. however, the top few usually do...

is my agar solution too hot? too cold? what's a way that i can keep this from happening?

One way i clear it from the misty petris is to
sit a cup of coffee on them for a couple of mins,
the heat evapourates the mist, and normally it
resettles onto the agar.

heh, thanks for the advice...makes sense too...prolly why my bottom dishes are usually free of condensation, and the top ones aren't.

thank you again.

If you use those plastic petris, be sure to use a place mat
or piece of paper between the cup and petri, other wise you
get a coffee cup ring

Normally only takes about 1m to evap.
