Anything to be concerned about?
    #24008312 - 01/13/17 09:33 PM (7 years, 1 month ago)

Sterilised some BRF jars. Inoculated with cubensis. Within a day they all had dark/black spots that eventually spread to cover the whole jar.

Assumed they were contaminated with something nasty and assumed they were a lost cause. Went on holiday for a few weeks and just left the jars.

Came back, 4/6 were colonised with 3 starting to pin. Haven't birthed this one yet but the other 3 jars that also look like this are in an FC. The jars smell healthy.

Will the mushrooms grown from these jars be safe to eat? The colour has me a bit worried.

Maybe try and fruit them outside. You don't want mold in your grow area or house.....I would hold my breath or put on a mask when i dumped those boys.

Frankly it sounds like your shot was doomed from get go.

Thanks guys.

The cake in the picture got broken up and put in some straw outside around the time I made this post - looked well colonised all the way through except for a dark patch... the others in the FC seem to have stalled... aggghhh. Fingers Xs I get some shrooms out of this.
