That is probably my most prized +1 I've ever gotten on this site.

I liked Zappas presence over on the Sports Forum, very knowledgeable guy. His presence site-wide isn't forgotten and I do think about the guy time to time, even though I didn't know him that well. He was one of the distinct characters around here.

Zappaisgod loved to poke his finger in the eye of people whom he felt needed some of his tough love.
I was at the receiving end of so much of it almost all the time he was here.
He was wrong, in my view, but so was I, in his, and we coexisted.
Zappaisgod came here in the wake of Ripper's death to "knock some sense into the younger generation", and in some sense, he did.
Let us never forget our bighearted hardass republican millionaire.
A real man.

he was rich in heart- i have little to no interest in money, literally; and we bonded over Gentle Giant, Music, literature, and poetry, and conversation, stories, theories, and cats.
and he was super lovely to talk to.
the internet sucks, really.

Lol fuckin zappa. I had a few life decisions I needed advice on a few years back.. just someone to bounce things off of.. someone who's done manual labor and such.. and he fit the bill. He was always willing to listen unless he was working or drinking. One thing he'd say and I still love it haha, is "well it ain't rocket surgery" or "I'm no rocket surgeon.." That, and "jesus tapdancing christ on a firetruck". I guess it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to let healing begin and let someone rest in peace. Just would've been nice to say hey thanks for the advice man I took it and everything worked out.. and when my world was it it's best his was winding down.. and then I couldn't reach him and I'd seen you guys get worried and it's like fuck me man, my luck and my timing.. but hey who knows he probably saw me posting here that things were well and good so, hey.

I didn't know about this. zappa was a good man. We mostly disagreed on everything in all of our interactions, but I always respected him because he would unabashedly express his thoughts and feelings whenever he felt the need. I am sure we would agree on a lot of political issues these days. This is truly a huge loss for this community.

Same here, kinda.
For quite some time I thought he didn't like me. Turns out that I was wrong. He ended up either messaging me or posting something along the lines of how he always sees similar to me and respects me (for whatever reason).
Won't lie, that made me feel pretty good.
I hope you're happy, ZIG. You've left your mark on the world.

He was also a big help when my daughter was on her way/born. Being that he also was (is?) the father of a daughter, he had some solid advice that I still do take to heart. Truly.
Regarding the "(is?)"...does one remain a father after death? I say yes.

He spoke very kindly and well of you. You must either work with your hands, like beer and sports, or all of the above. If I had a kid I wouldn't mind some of his words of wisdom.. look how his turned out haha.

I keep having dreams I'm walking down the street and I bump into him.
No idea why. He was truly a character. Claims I was way more articulate on the phone then on this forum. I hope he is talking politics until no can stand him at the skate park in heaven. Although I'm pretty sure there are no politics in heaven.
Goodbye though dude. It's sad but we will all see you soon. Life is just a short flicker I think and we create this mass importance of what is and isn't and attach it to the value of life. It's his energy I remember. Tapped into the deepest part of whatever made him himself that I can remember. That's real.
Real talk. Peace brother ZIG

I had a dream where I met ZIG recently myself. It was weird as I don't have too clear a picture of what he looks like in my head, but it was interesting.

Wow. Fuck. Zappa and me actually had some really nice convos and he frequently stuck up for me around here, I'll always remember him for that. Can't believe I haven't seen this thread or heard this news yet. Kinda fucking me up.
RIP to his soul, I'm gunna roll a fatty and burn it down in his memory tonight.
Fuck eh, this is a blow below the belt of our community for sure.

Wow... It's been just short of 8 months since his passing. (7 approx months that we've known here)

You know how sometimes you can see a picture of someone and know what they sound like, or hear their voice and imagine/know what they look like..? He was one of those guys, me thinks. Voice matched his appearance 100%,imo

We seriously disagreed about almost everything. Our relationship was so antagonistic. I wish I could tell him he was right on pretty much everything.

YES! He would have appreciated that jab! (didn't know him IRL, just thinking he might) He was definitely a presence here and had some great knowledge and insight about some things.

It made love to my ears and have loved it ever since. Sadly, my introducing him to the gay side of life that night ruined our relationship.

Am I reading this wrong, you seem to be suggesting that Zappa ended his own life? I know he had beaten cancer a few times and guess that so vital a guy might find a slow degeneration distasteful. I can respect that, but if that's the case, it's the first I've heard of it.
Peace.
