Yeah after doing dozens of shoeboxes I realized my first few of Martinique had some of the best pinsets Ive had

Open air fruiting gave great evaporation for triggering pinning. Chron has some great open air fruited grow pics.

One question about yield tho, from my past searches I was pretty sure 1 q putting out 1 Oz was a good yield, this put out roughly 3.7 Oz dry on the first flush and based off my past yields I was expecting a bit less than 2 Oz. does open air make that much of a difference? Last tub I used same syringe, and used almost twice as much spawn and it put out about 2.3 Oz over 4 flushes, 3 of which were outside(actually the bin I'm using was reused from that specific tub because I literally had no money), it was open air fruited cuz after I took off the lid It got left in my car which I wrecked. Had no choice, maybe this is just one of those flukes because there was really no huge change in procedure.

Curious though how productive the heavily bacterial and partially uncolonized grain worked out to be isn't it?

I think you got lucky with cleaner spawn. That is one hell of a good yield. I would clone some of those if you have agar. Genetics could play some part. The bigger parts are how clean the spawn is and surface conditions/ evaporation for pinning trigger, which is part of surface conditions.
EDIT
That belongs in the MS luck thread for sure!!!!

That's another thing I thought about, maybe certain levels of bacteria are beneficial in an open air environment, but in a more still air environment the bacteria gets out of control and the mycelium doesn't have enough oxygen to fight it off? I really don't know just speculation, interesting how different natural mushroom growth is from indoor cultivation.

Thanks. I've got several more boxes in various stages right now but I have been trying different methods for casing, open air vs dubs vs lids, and they are all varieties I am not used to working with (not that means a lot since they aren't isolates).
I think I may have been switching things up a bit too much on some of the boxes because they all looked like they were about to blow up with pins like the pictured one did, and they all did to an extent but not as well. And growth has been slow with short/small fruits.
Some of them show signs of moisture related stress like some small bruised areas and dried myc...
The sub was at field capacity for sure so there's no issue with dried sub, but possibly too much open air related drying even though I was misting throughout the day.
Maybe I just need to stick to a more focused approach for a bit
These smaller fruits are throwing me off because I'm used to always getting larger mushrooms. Between my mini-monos and shoeboxes they are all producing good sized flushes with very small fruits...although the 2nd flushes on the monos are giving some larger ones with way smaller overall yield.

My first shoeboxs are pinning now. Are these usually 1 and done or do people let these go on for multiple flushes?

id take a canopy of shorties any day. wait until you eat a solid 8th of them you wont mind anymore.
single quart shoeboxes give me 2-3 flushes. with the last one being kinda meh. multiple quart boxes tend to flush longer for me.

Started my first shoe box's exactly 4 days ago. Did a ratio of 1qt spawn 1.5 qt cvg.
Did two more tonight at 1.5 qt to 1.5qt.
The pics are the first four. I haven't misted or anything, there is some condensation on the one side of all box's.
Does everything look alright and on track? The pic looks a little gray but it's all white must be a reflection from my light

Great thanks. It's crazy how fast the mycelium rips trough the coir! This seems like the easiest way to grow bulk by a long shot. Set and forget.
