Munch grows them with the lids snapped on. they obviously get enough air to dry out right? thats enough for them to grow. looks dry? give it a mist. its the 'controlled' drying out of the surface layer that you want to induce pins

thats basically what 'dialing in' means. finding the sweet spot were you have enough air coming in, but closed up enough to trap evaporating moisture and keep the surface from drying out too much(which causes the blueing)
in fact. i hate the term dialing in. it makes no sense unless you have a rather complex frame of reference.
it would be like a surfer telling me to...
'...just ride it hard. right when the wave comes down dude, just tuck in, turn it hard, and hang it bro'
id be like wtf are you taking about?!?! while i drown.

And i just have to control temps inside instead of humidifier to. 144 qts of spawn and sub doesn't seem that hard for a month cycle. I can use the extra stuff for my edibles tent. Thanks op

I may use plastic wrap to hold moisture in under the lid. Once I see pins I'll remove plastic wrap.
Once the sib colonizes and consolidates it will pin without drying out. Then increase FAE as the pinset fills in

Just gotta dial it in. I have a feeling without a lot of attention mine may prematurely dry out. I usually do the same with my monos.

Looking through my double liner I can see its colonizing quickly. Will probably be fully colonized tomorrow.
I can see now that my coir verm casing is an inch thick which is the thickest I've ever done.
I like to let the casing colonize a bit before fruiting, so I'm gunna fruit sometime between Sunday and Wednesday, depending on how I feel.
How's yours?

Coming along nicely...I gave it a bit of CVG cover on top but will case with BT jiffy/verm when fully colonized...I guess.

Yeah yours is ripping through that sub eh?
Mine is not far behind but didn't you mention you spawned yours after me?
I'm still happy with my progress none the less. But really hoping for full colonization in 5 days or I'll start to worry.

Yeah, I spawned it on 2/11 but used less sub than you did...I did 1/4 brick coir...I'll have to check notes on the verm and gypsum amounts but it was like a cup or 2 of verm and a 1/4 cup gyp...I was really surprised at how well it was chewing through it considering the jar seemed to move fairly slowly.

Ahh true, it sounds like you actually beat me by a day Mine was spawned Feb 12
Next time I do this I'll probably use a 1/4 brick and 1qt verm per shoebox
Hey mushboy Were you always fruiting in Monos before you switched to closed lid fruiting?

So I guess you think my two 1" holes on either side will suffice for FAE then eh?
It's been bugging me so much that I don't have more holes... I may drill two more after full colonization, but part of me wants to ride it out.
And over here everyone's not even cracking the lids.... I wanna come to the dark side but I just can't let go

i only tried a verm casing on a sunflower cake top fruited.. later birth.
maybe i used too much verm but i didnt like it. but sure why not!
ive been doing a really good job of keeping my pitch glistening and moist so i dont find the need for a casing at this time.
but i will be using shoeboxes for pans cambos and will need do use either peat or verm casing. stay tuned

Made 49 of this today No casing but 1.5 qts of sub with one qt of spawn each. Super pissed at results every grain jar i used smelled like vingar.
