Or far less work than making yourself a meal or getting ready for work. Its funny to me people call misting work but happily will take pictures of every tub, edit them, and upload them, then post them and write about them. But are trying to save time on the cultivation front.
I haven't misted mine at all, they're pinning. I probably won't mist them at all either

They may not need that much attention but if you have 10+ going at once then they're going to need a bit of your time. Takes all but 5min

Maybe it's my climate but if you're not misting them, you are casing them I assume? Every time I open mine it needs a misting. I enjoy these though don't get me wrong, I really like that it's 1 jar of spawn for 1 tub, if something fucks up, you lose so little

I don’t have to mist until after the first flush or when pins come in at the earliest depending on what’s growing. Must be dry where you’re at

hey bod, do you dub your tubs, leave lid on till fruits grow out past it, or?
I've been trying some variations between dubs, lids and open air, but seems like they are drying out on the surface too often. Guess I may need to tighten up my dub game

Theres 10 shoeboxes. All PE6 MS to agar to LC All oat spawn and only coir No dub. Lid on top loosely. My room RH is low as fuck and ive got a space heater on now too.
Some are mixed evenly. Some are cased grains. Some are mixed evenly and cased, some are layered. Etc.. i tried to do em all different in a small way.
Funny all of them colonized the substrate in like 4-5 days and pins in 10. So fast.

10 boxes of dicks. cool. look forward to seeing any difference between the different styles.. i almost expect none.
and remember kiddos! nothing about shoeboxes is supposed to be dialed in or whatever. so its not a set and forget approach at all.

Now I know you have been growing a long time, and it could be culture related. BUT the only times I have had anything as extreme rhizo as the top left, almost rope like and thick as hell, was when the culture was running from contamination. In fact they have always ended up having mold pop up for me.

I think people have a big fetish with misting.
First of all the coir is wet/moist. And its in a tub. Its going to evap and create humidity
My room humidity is low, doesn't matter because my grows are in tubs
Im sure people would gladly mist away at the tub in the above picture. Thing is between the coir and spawn there a lot of water already in that shoebox. There's plenty of moisture and humidity for pins.
Now if they look thirsty ill give em water while they're flushing

Thanks for the info. I've got about as many going currently although not all spawned together. 7 currently fruiting and 5 colonizing. I did the same with varying things up and mixing some evenly, casing others. And I've been rotating dubs, lids and open air.
They all colonized or are colonizing fairly quickly, and about half are pinning but seem to be taking longer for the pins to fruit out than normal. Not sure if its my temps (sitting around 70 during day time and 68 at night) or just genetics.... thinking its at least partially genetics.
But they are drying out and requiring misting a lot, so I might just switch to loose lids. Already was thinking this seemed to produce the best results as for keeping the moisture levels good.
May add a small heater to bump temps slightly and see if they will fruit faster

I thought I read on here somewhere that PE6 can be printed and don't need to be swabbed. Is that correct?

I have found a casing just about makes them set and forget for me. I rarely have to mist a shoebox. Then once pin set is in, I stick it in a mono tub so not to worry about the lid getting knocked off, it is more of an OCD type thing for me.

I'm wondering if my sub being under field capacity is the major issue. It was damn dry, had to squeeze a lot to get trickles to come out.
I'm making more today with more water though. I've just misted this a lot to make up for the dryness at spawning, wouldn't be shocked if flush 2 ends up better because of rehydration

I have a feeling none of these are molding until after a flush or two
@steevo you can print regular PE too. Just not many spores drop. Pe6 is like normal cubes tho

I wouldn't have to mist mine as much, or at all, if I wasn't giving them so much FAE. If I leave a lid on they are fine... if I had just loose lid'd 'em from the start then I probably wouldn't have to mist much or at all.
I find dub tubs to be a pain in the ass and a waste of tubs, so I'm liking the idea of loose lids

I am not saying that it is going to, just my experiences with mycelium being that rhizo has always resulted in mold.
