A bunch of best practices questions [Re: mushboy]

One of the things the shoebox tek does not presently cover is best practices for establishing and maintaining fruiting conditions, and details as to harvesting. I'm curious as to what everyone else considers to be best practices or typical.
For those cultivating using shoeboxes, I am curious as to how frequently, how much, and what methods do you choose to use to mist things? Or, once dubtubbed and set into fruiting conditions, do you just choose to leave things alone, relying entirely on the water already stored in the grain, coir, and verm to supply all moisture until harvest? Or does this depend entirely on ambient humidity?
While the spawn is busy colonizing the coir, it is well established that the shoebox lid is to remain in place, with FAE provided by the shoebox's self-ventilating lid. Once fully colonized, and the shoebox is dubtubbed to set it into fruiting conditions, how frequently (if at all), and what methods do you use to fan? Or do you choose to just leave things alone, once in fruiting conditions, relying entirely the air gap between the dubtubbed shoeboxes for FAE?
After each flush, does it matter how long one soaks the substrate in the shoebox? 4 hours? 12 hours? Just soak it for a while, since it doesn't much matter?
When harvesting a shoebox, is it best to just grab a pair of kitchen scissors and mow everything down, big and small? Or is it best to leave all the smaller ones and pins, allowing the little ones to continue and mature? In which case, does each harvest really tend to be more of an ongoing piece-wise process rather than a singular event?
What is a typical timeframe after a first flush is harvested before the second flush pins?
What is a typical timeframe after a first flush is harvested before the second flush is ready to harvest? Is this timeframe also typical for a third flush? Fourth flush?
Assuming it doesn't get eaten by mold or bacteria, when is the right time to empty your shoebox into the rubbish bin? How do you know when your shoebox is finished and entirely spent?

varies ..when it needs it.

yup. but think conditions instead of humidity. humidity isnt something to chase with cubes.
Quote:

you answered this question yourself with your own write up you did about the lids
take fanning out of your vocab as well. fanning is totally pointless imo. its like ...praying.

Just soak it for a while

maybe 45min.. an hour. whatever time it takes to harvest them. when i harvest. i just twist and pull. easy. knife works too.

varies, varies, varies and also varies.
i toss the substrate when it molds, stops producing mushrooms, or i need space. no particular order. most of your questions are either too dependent on individual circumstances or you answered yourself.
thts why i didnt/dont/wont detail it in the body of the 'tek'. its just a write up/guide too. i dont consider it a tek but thanks!
expect a solid week and some days before each flush. dont over think it. its just fungus is a box.

A couple more APE’s I forgot to case and they ended up with these bomb pinsets so I’m letting em go. Hyped to see how these do compared to cased.

Second flush of those helmet heads. Maybe I can get a print off one of these

The way the gills are turned up ever so slightly had me pitching a tent. Took a clone from the first flush, gonna transfer it a couple times and grow it out to see if the fruits will look the same

Harvested this guy (I thought those opened up so maybe I missed a pic ), and a couple of these, two days ago.
Then today, most of these guys, and the rest of these.
Got some more to harvest tomorrow

So I just made 4 shoe box's today. I used half a brick coir with a quart of verm and half cup gypsum plus four full quarts of penis envy 6.
So each box got about 1.75 quarts cvg and one full quart of spawn.
So do I just let the box's sit in a corner with just the lid latched on? And about how long till they colonize? 5 10 days?
Once fully colonized I was going to use 80% verm and 20% coir with a dab of lime to case. Once fully colonized and i case should I put it directly into fruiting conditions? Big thanks.

Yeah snap the lid on and let colonize. I would say 5-10 days is a good estimate.
Then yeah, send her into fruiting
Actually I have no experience with casing. Idk if you wait for that to colonize before fruiting conditions, my apologies

For you guys running 10+ shoeboxes stacked up. Wtf are you doing, moving them around 2-3 times a day to mist them? Seems like a lot of work.
