Cutting bricks of coir into 1/4's is a pain in the ass. Personally id just prepare the whole brick and save it for later use in a bucket. Coir doesnt go bad. I believe mushboy prepares large batches of sterilized cvg and doesn't use all of it at once.

Different people use different amounts of spawn at different times in different tubs. So the amount of spawn used is your decision and something that you'll find a balance with experience.
I've been using 1/2 brick for two 6qt shoeboxes along with 1 qt spawn per box. So that's 1/4 brick per shoebox, 4 shoeboxes per brick.
650 gram brick of coir takes 3.5 to 4 quarts of boiling water
1/2 brick = 325grams coir = 1.75 to 2 quarts water (I find that 1.75 is just right)
I think I'm going to up my spawn ratio on the next boxes though.

these days i just make a whole brick, use what i need and either jar or bag up the rest and PC it.
when i need it again i just bust it out and hydrate as needed. spawn away. keep it rollin'

You can score a straight line in the coir brick with a knife then just snap it along the line. Helps if you can have one half hanging over an egde, but it will be a pretty clean break this way. Same concept as scoring a clay brick. Can quarter up a slab of coir in seconds.

I light a candle and heat up my knife with the flame while focusing my chi energy into the hot knife. This allows me to cut right through the coir while imbuing it with positive vibes that kill any negative contamination from my asshole bucket

WTH didn't everybody and there uncle 'on the inter-webs' tell me to use coir before I went and ordered up some pre-made Cpoo and Hpoo for $$.
So, after I already have enough fruit to last me n*X years, I bought some coir ($6), and now its sitting all alone in the closet with nothing to do.....
But the shoebox- what I thought was called a mini-mono or dub-tub, seemed to work out pretty good. Here's a picture:
Definitely doing coir next run. Thanks shroomeryians

What a difference 12 hours makes lol the color of the caps is interesting, looks different than the other cubes Iโve grown. Not sure as to the shape of them, I have several other boxes of Redboy that look nothing like these

Not sure if I selected some weird genetics being 10+ transfers in on the cultures in this tub but the color is different than the cubes iโve grown, really lacking any orange or yellow pigments. Itโs almost tan in color

These shrooms are tripping me out. They look like PE but I donโt have that on grains yet. I havenโt had a labeling error before but is it possible I mixed APE and Redboy grain spawn when making tubs causing this? I thought the crossing had to be done with spores to show through in phenotypes.
Might need to go back to the print
