I'm glad it seems civil to you, but here is a tip - if you want to keep that impression of civility, do not ever, ever, ever go into the Pub or Off Topic Discussion....
Fortunately, when people post in Mush Cultivation, Ethno Garden, and some of the other forums, they generally act much more intelligent and civil.
This is my second shoebox and my best pinset ever. I'm hoping this might shape up to be my first canopy.

edit: It's golden teacher variety multispore to rye/brf/verm cakes that I crumbled and spawned to coir/verm. I didn't go 50/50 coir/verm, I used a higher ratio of coir.

Thanks, guys. I sure as hell couldn't have done it without all the great members on this website and all the knowledge available here.

In the spirit of sharing information, since that is what helped me learn so much on this site, I also want to add a few other notes:
After spawning, I put the lid on this shoebox and put it in a dark drawer for a week.
After a week, I took it out of the drawer and took the lid off, and flipped another shoebox over and put it on top (dub tubbed it)
I also wrapped a dark colored grocery bag around the bottom of the shoebox, and then reinforced the bottom and sides of the shoebox, by nesting it into three more shoeboxes.
One thing I noticed on my first shoebox was that I got a lot of side pins.
I realize this is because my surface conditions were not ideal.
However, I think another thing that caused this was me moving the shoebox around too much. These shoeboxes are a little flimsy, and every time I picked it up, it pressed in the substrate, eventually causing a small gap to form between the sides of the shoebox and the substrate, which turns into an ideal microclimate for pins.
I had a few extra shoeboxes lying around, so I decided to nest my tub in some other shoeboxes to give it some extra support, and hopefully prevent those gaps from developing so much. (Yes, I realize I should just not touch them or move them around, but I can't resist)
I also threw an opaque grocery bag into one of the shoeboxes I nested the tub in. I know light isn't really what causes sidepins, but I figured it couldn't hurt.
Here is a picture of the side so you can see what I mean.

Everything is nested in this order:
Shoebox with substrate another shoebox dark colored plastic grocery bag wrapped around shoebox and then two more nested shoeboxes
I realize that these measures are not necessary at all, but after realizing how much I have learned from the random info other people have shared on here, I feel like it is worth mentioning. I will probably do the same thing again next time, because it seems to have worked pretty well.

That pin set is some real pin porn. That thing may need some bottom watering. I would expect some good shrinkage on that substrate.

Thanks for the tip!
How much water would you suggest? A cup or two?
Should I pour it out after a few hours or just leave it there until I harvest?

yah... i wouldnt do any of that. not for side pins or anything.. just in general.
bags and light have nothing to do with side pins. its about the surface conditions on the sides of your substrate being 'better' than the surface. learn from side pins. dont run from them.

Yeah, I just figured it might be worth mentioning.
The grocery bag may not have done anything, but having the nested tubs for reinforcement definitely helped me some I think.
I also didn't mist nearly as much, and "cracked" the lid/top tub less during fruiting this go around, so it could be any number of things, or just genetics, that made this shoebox so much better than my last one.

Spawned 16/9th AM, so a week's growth. Had lid on this entire time but there are air gaps, not a tight fit.
Read elsewhere it should be fully colonised in a week from spawning so as you can see I now have the lid cracked. Any tips or comments?

Should I not have misted until I saw pins? Could I have slowed it down by doing so? I wasn't seeing many tiny beads of moisture on the sub so I gave it a mist a few days ago...

I spawned the wbs jar to equal parts coco and let it colonize and cased it with SAND/coco inspired by Mycolorado

cloned this guy..
 (with bacteria)

I have two other jars(oats) from that same culture that will just be straight cased grains. more results to come!! so far, stones are so fucking easy. i fruited/made that shoebox just like i would have with any cube. they really are 'easier than cubes' MYCOLORADOS SAND CASING PROJECT

total weight was 128.1grams first flush. dried to 11.8g
awaiting the proper cosmic signals to enjoy the fruits(when im off next)
