2Qts Oats Per Box. I haven't gotten the weight off the GT and LGT box in the first pic but the two Lucys gave me the 102g

coco vermiculite gypsum.
the verm and gypsum are optional imo. the coco holds the water.

thats a mushcult philosophical debate bro. try it out using coco solo, or mixed with 20% verm.. after ahwile.. you see no difference. or at least i dont. so i stopped. now i do 100% coco. nothing else added.
but coir smells like moist dirt. i like it. wifes usually dont.

Just curious do you always do 2:1.5 ratio of oats to coir?

thanks! I missed your layering step with the remaining 1/2 qt. Going to try this with some mis-matched jars I have.
Have you seen a difference with and without a top layer?

i found denser pinsets are easier to achive with a toplayer. havent done casings either. but top layers can sometimes give weird results. not sure why. but mutants and odd growing shrooms were way more common with the top layer than without.
but thats all limited through what i can observe directly.

I want to share my 3 LGT shoeboxes. Spawn sat in jar for ~3 months. I had 3 qt jars and 3 pint jars, so each shoebox got 1.5QT of spawn to 2.5qt Straight vermiculite. I will give it a layer of vermiculite for a casing when it hits 100%, which should be in a day or 2. These tubs are ~60hours old. Spawned late at night on the 18TH.

The nutrition comes from the grain, not the substrate. Coir doesn't really provided nutrition. I spawned jars of oats to the vermiculite.

So the substrate is just for moisture pretty much?

very debateable.
They do provide some nutes and a good variety for fruiting.
though the grain is definitely the majority.
The substrate does also provide water.
verm has not been known to be the best substrate by itself. It does work for some.
I may try it for fun.
also seems myc colonizes coir much more aggressively.
