RW day 9

Looking good. The batch youβve been guiding me on was spawned the same day, but they donβt look quite like that. Patience...patience...waiting for that first pin.

Look a little dry to me but I can't see the surface that well. Is there any condensation on the mycelium? If not, I'd give it a LIGHT mist just to make it glisten.

I agree! Looks a bit on the dry side.

I'd have waited a day or two to see if surface moisture would develop on it's own... I typically don't see surface moisture until a day or two after full colonization IME

@Doc9151
I went ahead and harvested. There were already spores all over the place. Didnβt want it to get too out of control.
When you harvest does it matter if there are some pins left over? On my AA+ box there were tiny pins all over and I wouldβve shredded my sub trying to get alll of them.

They're fine... if they abort the mycelium will resorb them with no risk of contamination IME

RW, last one showing trich, covered it with dry vermeculite and the race is on!

Texas killing it... side pins despite the on point surface conditions and heavy pinset... so I snatched it out of the shoebox and placed it in a bootbox for a little extra room

Nope. More like a band aide.
Why do we even salt/cut trich if it's a parasite and already in the mycelium?
Side note: I think I saw my first case of penecilium the other day. I shoulda took a pic of the jar. It was a beautiful blue/green color. Turquoise

My assumption is that it stops surface spread (so that it doesn't overtake the mushrooms that are growing) and also makes it so the spores don't get into the air.
Would love to know what TCs have to say on this.
