Pic? I'm assuming it's just a genetic thing. I had that with AA+ before.

After spawning.. do I just leave the lid completely on til the mushrooms are big enough to switch to a dubtub?
Or do I need to flip the lid or take the lid off for a few hours a day?
I'm just really trying to get this right because i got fucked on my last batch/fml

Pretty common, dry them properly and they'll be fine... make tea with questionable fruit... there's excess moisture, and our needs air

So originally I had one side unsnapped. Now I just flipped the lids and turned them so there's an inch on each corner.

Question y'all. I have 2 boot boxes of ape, and I made the top layer way too thick. Should I just leave them be and hope for the best? Or try to remove some of it and patch it up and fruit? Here's pics. It's deceiving but the top layer is from 1/2" to 1" in certain spots.

Should be fine, not too awfully thick... I wouldn't mess personally

Ok... it looks thicker in person. I was getting worried because the initial substrate colonized fine, but when It started colonizing the top layer the mycelium started getting thick like there's bacteria growing in the uncolonized top layer.
It's only been a week since I spawned it anyway. But I usually go way thinner on the top layer. I'll leave it and see how it goes.

I'm sure it's fine; bacteria would likely originate from your spawn anyhow; don't see coir being nutritious enough

Well I only say that because the mycelium looked fine in the jars and while it started colonizing. It wasn't till it started eating thru the top layer that it started to get thicker.
2 of the jars WERE bacterial. I had 2 bacterial and 2 clean ones. Spawned them separately. But both boxes are behaving the same way.

Hey mush cult! It's been 6 months since a friend gave me a spore print and I started this crazy journey. So, in honor of that I'm doing a giveaway (US only sorry) of prints from my best flush so far:

I have 6 PE6 prints to send for this 6/6/6 giveaway. Just pm me with your addy and I'll send them out as soon as all 6 have been claimed.
This is, of course, only for microscopy purposes.

Thanks! They're a fun variety, good weight, and decently even grow for coming from a MS print.

Ok, thanks guys.
I think I had my sub a little too wet initially but other than that idk. As soon as the sub started pulling away from the sides I started seeing side pins.
Does it look like thereβs too much or not enough sub? I used 1 qt of grain spawn.
