Low spore count could be conditional as well IMO... either excess moisture or insufficient FAE seems to make for lighter prints... second flush is usually better IME

Soooooo, a little over a month ago I took two shoeboxes that weren't doing so well (thanks to Caps and others for pointing out my overly wet sub), let it dry out a bit, and tossed them into a larger mono and mixed everything up real good--just to see. I fully expected a raging green mold fest, but instead it's been slowly but steadily sending up medium-small sized fruit, onesy-twosy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Of course, I'm being more careful about water content now.

So my 4 shoe boxes have hundreds of pins forming. What do I need to do to make sure they don't abort this time?

Prolly water
Mist the fucking shit out of them is what I would do.
The sub can only push so much mass though

I thought the number one cause of aborts was misting them directly.

No.
Aborts seem to be a result of limited resources and the myc puts those resources into as many fruits as it can, some it aborts since it doesn't have enough resources.
Where does it say direct misting causes aborts ? I've read the exact opposite, that it does not cause aborts.
I've also personally misted the shit out of pins, never seen aborts

Pans can be sensitive to misting and will often abort when wetted, though I’ve seen Pan grows where that wasn’t the case. Could be thinking of that, maybe.

3 boxes of my Roatan Honduras clone:

2 boxes of Brazilians:

AA+:

Pan. Cyan Australia: (Now cased)

Caerulescens: (Now cased)

Just found green mold in my APE SB but have some more spawning!
What's your setup on those pan cyans? Ive been trying to grow cyans for a while with no success
I’m on my 3rd attempt myself.
Cleaned up spores from print on agar ~ Used 150mL GSW/LME for LI ~ Used sterile swabs to collect healthy myc from plate then stirred into LI ~ Inoculated 1 lb bag of rye berries with 12cc’s of LI. After colonized I spawned to a SB with 70/20/10 ~ Hpoo/Coir/Verm sub at 80F with 95-99% RH. Once fully colonized I cased with 50/50 Peat/Coir and a little verm ~ Put my SB into SGFC set to 80F with 80-85% RH. 6500k CFL bulb on 13 hours on, 8 hours off cycle.
Just cased them yesterday so I’ll keep you posted! Wish me luck, lol. Same to you!
Sounds like we're doing it almost identically lol. Did you add calcium carbonate to your casing and check the PH?
I forgot and it doesn’t look like the myc is colonizing the casing.

2 out of 3 Honduran clones have started to pin nicely! 3rd isn’t far off.

1st box of Brazilians coming in strong!

AA+ so close!

I'd dial humidity back in the Brazilian slightly: looks like psuedomonas developing on quite a few stipes

Its the dark streaks up the stipes...

With this recurring, sounds like stress fruiting caused by contamination, likely bacteria... is it MS or one culture that's doing it? May be some killer genes, but I'd suspect the subs are trying to fruit with a vengeance in a last ditch, fleeting effort to procreate... good luck my friend

I have a good feeling about these. They aren't all clumped up like some pics I see on here. They are looking great.

So I literally only see 3 pins between the 2 pictures, and the blotchy surface colonization is pretty indicative of a bacterial infection...
