All except the second pic were spawned on 10/15. The second pic was spawned 10/29 and has 2 quarts of spawn the others have 1 quart of spawn. How do they look? Haven’t grown in the winter before so it’s a new challenge for me

You spawn them with a top layer? How cold is it in your grow room? Some photos of the bottom or sides would help for sure to see what the colonization is looking like. I have always have full colonization within 10 days during the winter but my grow closet never gets below 69*F

I have a infrared quartz heater in my room the hydrometer almost always says 69-70 degrees f
I spawned them with a one cup top layer like the original post states
Might not do that I'm my next ones so I can see surface conditions better

It is golden teacher
I think I messed up mixing the spawn Could have been too cold because I have only had the heater in there since the 25th of November
The 3 on the 15th are only one jar of spawn
I used municipal tap water
When In the past I have grown with well water although I doubt that matters
I have 30 jars about ready to spawn so we will see if this weirdness keeps up

Is it colonized under the top layer? I can say that by 7 days you will know if a shoebox will finish or not. Lots of times ive spawnd sketch jars to some coir. Bacterial shit shows will stall out around day 4 at 40% colonization. Hopefully its your temp and not the spawn.

They are probably bacterial then. They were from multispore just as a mess around while I waited for my transfers. The side don't look fully colonized either. I'll give them a few more days and then toss if they are still doing nothing
The jars I have that are almosy ready are from agar

First attempt at shoeboxes second grow ( these are 12 quart so a little bigger ). how do they look? i think i have some bacteria seeing how the myc is reaching for the sky. they are just coir, the spawn was rye grains. i used 2 quarts of spawn for 1 brick of coir. these were spawned on the 2nd on December. i have some myc from the b+ growing on agar so clean in up hopefully, just having fun with it.

Ok thanks, I put them in a grow tent that I set up so they have better light. What do you think?

I'd get them off the floor if you can... no need for HID lighting (can't tell what you got there) they don't photosynthesize... it's really only a circadian rhythm and growth directional prompt type of thing... ambient room light is sufficient IME...

Thank you, I pulled two of them out and put the other 2 on the shelf in the tent, guess I'll see which 2 get better flushes lol. Also going to switch the light because that one's too hot.
