Do you have any pictures of your spawn? Could be a water content issue too.
Unfortunately no... But I can say it I only really spawned the ones that had solid white mycelium growth with no wet spots, and there's always a fresh mushroom smell during the spawning process. The water content issue you speak of would mean my substrate is too wet right? That may be possible because I prepared my coir the same way every time in the pot without letting it get dry.
Do you think it has something to do with spawning to 1:2 spawn/substrate? As in not enough grain to feed a second flush fast enough to beat out the mold?
Watch the video in this thread it will help you with how wet your substraight should be. Only a few drops of water should come out when you squeeze cert hard. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/25087159#25087159
I do agree with tomato tho if u get contams that early its almost always because of the spawn.

as everyone else is asking, method? Just some dried veil to agar? saw one thread in which someone was using some old ass dried veil to try revival, but mainly bacteria, also I am sure it was passed around and such causing much more chance of contam...

I'm asking the method because 90% of people trying to revive dried tissue end in moldfests.
Imo the other 10% either germinated unseen spores that were deposited onto the flesh and later germinated once rehydrated.. or they are full of shit.
But caps is good people so I'm

I feel you there, when I searched it up after getting in a friendly debate on chances of it working for just anyone. (as in someone like buying some from a dealer or some such then just throwing it on agar and not just get gross stuff.) So with Caps not likely at all to be messing with us on a revival. Though, not that I don't believe his skill, I feel that a good part of it would be how the dried fruit was stored before revival, I imagine he is clean and they were kept in decent conditions during the months. (either way, a bravo feat.)

These cold temps are killing me. My house is never above 66°F in the winter, and as a result of that plus dry air, I'm getting really disappointing results from my current three boxes. Super slow colonization and teeny, early-maturing fruit on the first flush so far (still a bunch of pins I'd like to encourage to grow big). I've tried a heat mat before, but I feel like that just created condensation issues. I'm going to scour the forums for ideas, but if anyone has any recommendations, I'd surely appreciate it. TIA!

You would just counsel patience, then? Would you recommend any changes to other practices/materials to account the temp and humidity changes? I didn't use a casing layer this time which was, in hindsight, probably foolish. Thank you for your insights!
