Best pinset I’ve had by far. These look to have slightly fuzzy feet- think I should up FAE? I’ve got the lid on upside down. No fanning or misting, just letting it do it’s thing.
I’d meant to follow up about a week ago. First flush ended up being 183g wet. Not horrible for 1qt spawn. Not the monster canopy I had hoped for, but I’m getting closer! I’ve got a few other varieties (KSS, PE6) that are close to going to grain. I’m psyched!

That turned out pretty nice! Can't wait to see what you do with KSS and PE6.

Lend me your spirit energy shroomerites! I want at least 3 of these tubs to take off, I have high hopes for the BHT. Check my Sig for more.
What's up with the jars in those 2 tubs?

I had a blob on my current PE tub and it never blobbed out. I was kinda excited to see it in person. I guess I did it so wrong it just had to be right

lol I'm kinda excited too I've never been blobbed. It's growing slowly along with the rest of the shrooms a little bigger than a marble now.

Hi friends,
I am on my second grow of p. Mexicana. First one was pure PF Tek and a great success. For this grow, i took two vermiculite/BRF cakes prior to consolidation and spawned them to coir in a small shoebox as an experiment, the other four I have fruited as cakes.
It took a long time for the box to fully colonize and begin fruiting, a bit over a month. the fruiting has been slow and not really vigorous so far, but it is picking up steam now though clearly nothing that will win any shroomery awards - some of you all are doing some absurdly impressive stuff!
My issue is that the shoebox fruits are kind of curling a lot and laying down on the substrate surface... i.e. they are not growing up. Caps are not opening in that nice full way that I see with the cakes. I believe it is a humidity issue but I can't tell if it is a too dry / too humid deal? At first I had kept them with the lid upside down but it seemed to be drying out too much. Then I put it in the SGFC with the cakes, first with lid upside down then I took it off as I detected early stage bacilus. That stopped but the fruits are as depicted in the photo. Any assistance would be gratefully received.

Thank you friends!

Cased with verm? Looks dry and starved for air/light IMO... no need to put shoebox in SGFC, it maintains it's own microclimate

I was actually thinking they looked too wet, like field capacity wasn't checked or something, but it is hard to tell what going on in the photo. Also, is it just me or is that super thin for a shoebox? Like that doesn't even look like a quart total worth of sub and spawn.
Oh yeah, and caps is right, verm top layer is unnecessary and will more than likely just make things harder.
What is your light situation?

You might try dub tubbing it (another tub flipped upside down on top like a humidity dome). Mexicanae like a lot of FAE which a dub tub can provide while maintaining adequate humidity. Could also be some weird trait...They look a bit like these Jalisco that did the same thing.

Thanks guys. Light is ambient from a south-facing window. Yes, cased with a very thin layer of verm. It is not an actual shoebox but a small 11" long sterilite. The coir was prepared at field capacity as per Bodhi guidance. Here are a couple more pictures.... thanks again for any additional help re. the humidity. I have taken it out of the SGFC... mist more? less or not at all????
And yea, this is Jalisco which definitely have some strange shapes however these seem out of whack and completely different from their cakey sisters and brothers...

I usually only mist once before first flush harvest, but never prior to full colonization, as surface moisture will develop on it's own...

Sure the sub was field capacity, you squeezed it to test? Clean spawn ? Could have taken way too long possibly if the ratio to sub was too low? 2 cakes for how much sub..?
You know about this gem...?
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24945782
Leave the lid on until full colonization of the sub, possibly even after. Leave untouched during this period. You may benefit from a light, 6500k spectrum.
Something is amiss with your tub. I may have possibly missed some of your previous posts. It looks potentially contaminated ...? Something is definitely off though, those results are not typical even for a poor tub.
